If it's only a couple then the previous posts linked products are great.

If you start adding TVs all around the joint then you'll need an active video distribution amplifier, because everytime you add another TV the input impedance decreases. Standard video is at 75 ohms and just like speakers, the impedance will decrease as more TV loads are added until the signal becomes very degraded and suffers from signal reflections from anything but the shortest lead.

Why split at HDMI or RGB? Cant you use baseband composite video? The hardware is alot cheaper.

a lot of laptops now are coming with only HDMI outputs this is not good for us karaoke and video DJ's

I currently have a laptop with a S-VHS out put and a VGA output

i carry a S-VHS to composite converter (little adaptor passive)

A powered composite distributor from one to four so i can connect most standard Televisions I have scart adaptors from RCA jacks

I carry a composite to RF modulator active adaptor box for venues with RF distribution.

I carry a active VGA splitter from one input to four outputs and three long 10 Metre VGA cables so i can go via PC inputs

This set up allows me to work in most venues hosting karaoke to multiple monitors

IF i had a laptop with just HDMI i would probably buy a down converter to Composite ..an expensive option but would allow me to go to my composite active distribution box

I have a separate really useful plastic box with a myriad of adaptors and video leads in it just to solve video distribution problems ..weighs a ton but has got me out of many a sticky situation.

I am with the scouts on this one.... be prepared.

I think you mean S-Video! S-VHS is a type of semi-pro video tape standard.

S-Video (a four-pin mini din) contains seperate luma and chroma signals, you can get a simple combiner from Maplin or CPC (just a simple type of adapter) that gives you composite out if necessary.

I know it confuses matters but at least using composite means you can use standard single core coax cable; just another option.

yes i do mean S-video not S-VHS machines (which used the same connectors) DOH! silly me . (maplins) also do a little adaptor which is not a lead that goes from a S-Video socket to a female RCA this is a bi directional adaptor too.
I have a S-video lead that plugs into the adaptor then goes to composite ..I agree i find composite the easiest and cheapest way of distributing video for my karaoke needs . CDG discs are 16-colour (4-bit) graphics which are displayed on a raster field which is 300×216 pixels in size. so you hardly need hi def 1080p at 24fps lol

having a laptop with HDMI only means adding a significant cost if you want to downscale HDMI output to composite so bear that in mind when buying new laptops.

When you say most new laptops only have hdmi, does that mean they are doing away with a VGA output?

If you still have vga, then try this PC to TV, then you can add

yep a lot of new lappys are doing away with VGA and S-video outs and come with just HDMI ! madness i tell ya!

The link bigMCben posted is a good one i have used that VGA to Composite converter and it works well

Hi, I've bought a new all in 1 touch screen for 500 quid from dell; well worth it and no hdmi so thats good and I can connect my tv to it very easily. It makes it a bit harder to move around and on the plus side if you use virtual dj you can use the wheels on the screen to scratch, so next i'm going to try a wireless tv-thing so I'll tell you what that's like.
