Ive decided to buy some NJD Datamoons, and hope to place an order next week.
There seem to be a lot of good deals on the "kit", includiong 2 Datamoons, case, lead and controller. I am thinking of getting one kit now, and possibly another kit in the near future.
This will give me 4 Datamoons, and 2 controllers.
My question is, will the controller supplied in these kits control 4 lights, or only 2.
If it is only 2, is it better to have 2 controllers running 2 pairs of lights separately, or 1 controller for all 4 lights.
Any advice appreciated!
Cheers, Mark.

You *should* be able to link them all together via the dmx leads and one controller to control blackout / mode / etc.
The manual (available at:
http://www.njd.co.uk/technical/355.pdf), says:
Features of the DataCon1:
* Full control over colour and beam movement
* Controls up to 32 Datamoons
So all you'll probably need is extra two dmx leads to go between datamoon #2 - #3 , and #3 - #4 :)

Yes - one controller will happily operate 4 lights.
You could split the lights and use one controller per pair if you really want to.....but might have to consider becoming a bit like a "DJ Octopus"! LOL!

Is that anything like a FAL Octopus?

Thanks David/Dukesy!
That was the answer I was hoping for. I did ask one of the sellers, but they were not very confident with their answer and said they thought I might need a different controller for 4 lights, but they were not 100%.
Looks like I will order 2 kits, and keep one controller as spare.
Thanks again!
Cheers, Mark.

Hi guys,
A follow up question re; connecting Datamoons.
I bought 2 kits, which have now arrived, however my question is about the best way to set them up.
From reading the manual, I see you can set dip switch 3 on every other unit to create a more interesting show, which I would do.
However, when you read the manual for the Datacon controller, it explains manual operation, slow, random etc, but nothing that suggests an automatic "show".
My question is, for normal dancing etc, what is the best way to have these set up, including best way to have the controller set. My plan is to use the controller on manual to slow the lights and fix the colour for slow dances, first dances etc, but for normal dancing I want something I can leave alone.
I guess it would be best to play around, and Ive hired a room to have a practice "set up" in this week, but any advice in the mean time would be much appreciated.
Cheers, Mark.
