Well, I can't say life as a DJ is boring.

One minute middle aged singles snogging their faces off on the dance floor, next a load of 50+ year old mods dancing to Northern Soul....

....and now, a last minute booking for the local Filipino Community Christmas Party!!!!!

I doubt it, but anyone done one of these before????

I'll do the usual plus a few tagalog tracks (there are some on Now 74 I'm sure) but if anyone has any advice (other than the obvious...save your keyboard), it would be very welcome.

Well I have a mate who's filipino but being over here he's very much an anglophile so likes anything that anyone else his age from the Uk would like.

I did a party in Cambridge a few years ago for an Englishman whose bride was Filipino.

The majority of guests were Filipino and nearly all the requests were for classic disco tunes!

Certainly American pop culture has had an influence in the Philippines.

Good point Spinner,

The hostess mentioned she wanted 60s and 70s in the mix and I suspect this is for the same reason.

90% of the Filipino tracks on Youtube and elsewhere are ballads so there is definifetly a bit of a timewarp taking place.

I have enough 60s and 70s music for about three days non stop so I should be OK wheelchair.gif

Well, that was definitely different!

The 6/7 girl teenagers there danced to the new stuff, the mums and grans danced to cheese and the men sat in the corner yacking.

At the time it was a bit frustrating, but upon reflection I think that was about as good as I could have made it. I'm glad that I was prepared for a culturally different evening..because it sure was!!

Here's a clip of the evening. At least the empty dancefloor helped give a great display of my ADJ Revo III's, the Kam 3D and the two ADJ Punch lights.
