Hi everyone,
This time next month Im in charge of setting up and operating a 6KW PA system,
The equipment I have available is:
3 x Matrix UKP 1300
2 x Matrix UKP 1000
2 x 2 * 15" 1.2KW bass cabs
4 x 1 * 15" 200/400 W bass cabs
4 x Bose 802's
2 x Behringer cx2310
behringer cx3410
3 x Yamaha D1030

My current plan is to use one of the behringer cx2310's in 2 way mode run left high to one UKP 1000 runnin in mono to power 2 Bose 802's and opposite for right.
Then running the bass outputs into a pair of D1030's and setting the cross over for mid to 200hz and feeding the mid outputs of these to a UKP 1300 and runnin 2 single 15" cabs on each side of it.
Then setting the sub out on the cx2310 to 200hz and splitting the output of that into the other 2 UKP1300's running in mono to ower the 2 *15's

Hope this makes sense..

Sounds Okay (Pardon the pun!)

You could increase the mid cut off to be slightly higher than 200hz. 200hz is still considered upper bass frequency rather than mid. Most mid range systems tend to run better at around 800hz with the entire mid sweep set up to reproduce 500hz - 1khz or extended to 3 khz for upper mid. So I would set your lower cut off frequency to be around 500hz rather than 200.

If you intend to use this system long term then I would suggest that you replace the drivers of the 15" cabs that you are using for Mid Range frequencies to ones which are dedicated mid range drivers rather than standard 15" Woofers. This is because the bog standard 15" driver is made to reproduce a wide frequency range (50hz - 3 khz for example) rather than to concentrate on one particular area of the frequency spectrum. A standard 15" speaker will work fine in this configuration, but you could be getting more from your system by using mid range drivers or 15" drivers with a good mid range response

Also make sure that your wiring between the amps and speakers is correctly rated, I would suggest 20A - 25A for the larger amps. Also split up the load on three or more sockets at the venue. 6KW RMS of audio, allowing for heat / losses will pull in around 30.5A from the mains scared.gif

Ok thanks power is not a problem, we have 4 32 amp mains loops plus the 4 63 amp supplies for lighting. The reason for the 200hz cross over is that the 15inch cabs are LF cabs and will b x-over at top end about 500, I am still after some mid range cabs.

Yes, get some dedicated mid range cabs sorted as soon as possible. It can be a weakness on larger P.A's especially if the P.A is used for any vocal work such as gigging bands etc. Midrange covers a large part of the human voice spectrum.
misterbassman
Ok I will look into that, for this time tho I will stick to the 4 x 802's which I have found to be pretty good with the vocal stuff
YourBigEvent
Really I was THAT impressed with the 802's

hi there,

i recon the makie 900's are better than the 802's more reliable. i was speaking to a bloke on new years eve that was using a 3kw makie system 2x900's and 2x' 15inch bass. i have never heard such a fantastic output like that before!
and he was telling us that he had done a gig in some swanky hotel somewhere? and he used there bose system which consisted of mainly 802's and he needed more power and he actually ended up blowing the 802s!!! fear.gif
misterbassman
yeh that dont suprise me, the 802's aint mine and have just looked at specs and theya re only 200Watt!!! I thought they were a lot more than that
Chrispy
If your running a 6kw rig with large amps, you really should have checked this out BEFORE you hooked them up nono.gif

I havnt run the 6KW rig yet, thats the point of the post
