Heyy. I was wondering what the technical name is for background videos that djs play during live sets. usually feature lots of lasers and colours etc.
if so, i was wondering if it is possible to purchase or download some.
thanks..
I call them visualisations.
You've got a few options
- either "Live" PC generated images (ie WinAMP with LineIn:\\ with AVS or a specific PC application)
- or a re-rendered DVD.
The Live PC generated option could be very cheap (free if you have spare laptop and venue has projector etc), and so probably worth a play.
However, if you then want to venture into Video DJing, you'll either need a video mixer, or then go onto pre-rendered video and use a Laptop or dedicated hardware.
I'm dipping my toe into some Video DJing for a Halloween gig, and so will be ordering the MixMash Halloween DVD collection. This includes a DVD of some Halloween Visualisations.
DJ Associates members received a FREE MixMash visualisation DVD last month.
