Just tell your bank manager that the wedding season is rapidly approaching, and wave a few "Wedding fayre" (more people turn up, if they spell Fair with a "Y" laugh.gif ) leaflets at him.

Sorry, I've not got any real information for you.

However, point out that Wedding seasons run from about April to October, october has every pub scrabbling for a haloween disco, and December, well, thats just insane...sure January and Febuary are quiet, but hey, people get born in every month of the year, so birthday do's are a regular income, any month of the year.

Vinnie.... When I had to go and see the bank manager to organise business overdraft/credit cards etc I took in all details of all the bookings I had guaranteed and their projected revenue. I also showed him a plan of how I was going about marketing my business. Also give him predictions for the forthcoming year...show him last years accounts etc so he can see you are a growing business.

Provided you go in there and prove that you are not some cowboy only wanting to earn your beer money, you should be able to impress him enough. He will then be pestering you to take out loans, give you a personal business manager who will phone you up asking if there is anything he can do for you etc etc!

Vinnie, on the assumption you already have a business current account with a bank, have you approached them yet? They usually have free leaflets / brochures available to their business account holders that can guide you through the process of putting a business plan together. Also, they often have market trend data although I would be suprised if there was anything specifically on discos; it's more likely to be a broader heading like "enterainment and leisure" which'll cover off pubs and all sorts.

Additionally, have a look in the business section of your local library, there is probably stuff there that'll help too.

Visit your local Tech for free advice on how to write a business plan correctly and what else to include. Be honest in your financial planning - a bank loves to see people doing better than they anticipated originally, so don't put down that you expect to be clearing £300 a week - even if you do expect to!.

Alternatively, borrow a Pair of Paula's tights and walk in with them over your head, and they'll probably be very nice to you and give you whatever you want.....as well as 5 years scared.gif

Hi

Try getting in touch with your local Chamber of Comerce, they should at least be able to put you in the right direction.

There are indeed leaflets available that gives busines start-ups info on their own industry, it's very basic stuff, but it's a starting point. And yes they do have info on mobile discos...ask your bank for the relevant leaflet.

You're doing exactly the right thing anyway, getting to grips with your business plan, that will show a bank manager that you have enough nouse to do the job.

if you're looking for a bank that won't hastle you, try HSBC, in fact they will hastle you in such a small way they might as well not be there...bloody useless.

I work for Barclays, but can't comment on their business section as I'm a personal banker...yes I said banker!

they have their own website dedicated to businesses though, check it out at

Hope that's the correct addy smile.gif

Good luck

Thanks for all the replies. It was really the market info end of things that I was looking for and the plan is coming together well. Although businesss plans are always based on predictions and I take Chris's point on not being over optomistic, I think that any plan is better than no plan at all.
Has there been a poll on how many on the list dj full time as their only income?
Thanks again
