I just had a quick glance and couldn't see anything wrong with the site. It was laid out nicely, no glaring spelling mistakes or grammatical errors, contact info clearly stated.
Seems fine to me thumbup.gif
I'm sure someone will analyse it more thoroughly and be able to provide a suggestion.

looked good to me,not too fussy or complicated, good clear pictures and simple and to the point order forms.Couldnt get onto the disco link

LoL Nice but what for???

Hi Andy, Very nice the photo's are terrific, I feel hungry.

Right now the Simon Cowell bit..........

The easy bit, I'm looking for a cake, only for one night, I don't want to marry it.
Page Two - the different types of cake - Sponge, fruit etc. Make your potiential clients mouth water. Also timelines, you don't want me ringing up and saying I want a 3 tiers fruit cake for next Saturday, Fruit cakes don't work like that. A picture of a cake with a slice removed, to us it won't make any odds, but to a potiential client they will see a firm but tender center - Sold to the luvy dovy bird in the corner.

Link at the bottom - Andy's Disco Soundz - sorry mate, looks out of place in that format - try, For your musical requirements - Click here. If I can think of anything better i will let you know.

Thanks guys, the link is getting removed next week, I hate it too !!

Nice loooking site, quick and clear, which is always good.
Couple of comments that may help (or not)
1 I would keep the link to the disco but think about re-designing it, I also couldn't get it to work.
2 On the info page I'm assuming that the numbers in the chart indicate how many people can be served by a particular size - but I don't know -maybe
What Size Do I Need - (Numbers indicate approximate number of portions)
3 Small point, but I would keep the format constant re the navigation buttons on the contact page, also the contact page is the only one that has a link back to the home page.
4 Finally, on the last Gallery page with the 9 pics the "INFORMATION" button is highlighted (purple colour)
Hope this doesn't sound nit-picky and that it helps rolleyes.gif
Cheers pepsi.gif

I liked the logo at the top - quite classy and the picts are good. The link to your disco site didn't work.

Site looks very proffesional ans 'classy'. smile.gif

Only comment would be that in my browser the pictures go 'off the side' of the screen and you have to scroll sideways so view all 3. I don't know if its just a problem ive got or whether anyone else gets it. I don't know what a soloution to this would be other than to reduce the pictures sizes of just have 2 to a line. huh.gif

Yeah, I think that the 'banner link' does look out of place. I would recomend either redesigning it to 'fit in' with the style of the site or just have a text link as I think mikeee may have suggested? smile.gif

Apart from those 2 bits the site looks super. Very proffesional.

Joe

New bit added:

Just spotted another little 'problem'.

On the Contact Details page, after the link to there home page (which is in green), there is a link called 'ABOUT OUR CAKES' which links to 'http://www.annelise.co.uk/'.
This link is in white, not in green like the home page link and is near imposible to see against the cream background. rolleyes.gif

not me,

I like the site, now can I have a free cake Andy biggrin.gif

As I cant get the link up can we go down the old "the proof of the pudding is in the eating" road... in this case, cake- can i have a sample of a nice sponge cake... then I could add to the web site giving my rendition of how gorgeous the cakes are.. nothing like a customer giving their favourable comments is there! yum yum!
Eskie
Andy, don't do it... remember Kazz told us she was on a diet rolleyes.gif

The issue with the pictures going of the side of the screen depends largly on the size of the monitor the visitor is using. It may be that the webmaster has a 19" or 21" monitor and when designed the site perfected the images and size to display correctly on his monitor - forgetting that visitors using smaller screen sizes would have a problem.

There is a clever way of coding the site to determine the screen size of the monitor and displaying the site correctly and whilst this may be beyond the average webmaster a paid one should certainly be able to work this out rolleyes.gif.

If you are designing your own site then try and set it up to a 17" monitor since this is currently the most used resolution according to my own site logs smile.gif

Also your keywords could do with optimising a little more effectively....

With regard to linking your site and your missus' why not have a single gateway page with links to both sites, so that visitors to either your disco site or cake site have the option of visiting the other site as well smile.gif
YourBigEvent
Good idea Chris, I have brought www.southwest-weddings.co.uk for that very purpose, and to add other services (Shut up Gary !!)

Must get around to doing it !!

the site looks nice. maybe you might want to tell a bit more about the person(s) making the cakes, i.e. how long they've been in business, the experience of the person(s) baking, etc. also you might want to thumbnail the pictures in the gallery and make the front page images just a bit smaller ( not so over-powering). that is about all i can see as far as any suggestions. good luck. biggrin.gif

nono.gif That would over load it too much, just by looking at the detail of the cakes alone tells you that this person has been doing this for a long time and is 100% skilled, I've seen better cakes on this site than I have at a leading bakers factory!

hi, just had a quick look at the site, and just have a couple of comments for you.
Firstly to do with the pictures not fitting on the page. This is to do with the resolution of the monitor and not neessarily the monitor size. the minumum resolution the pages should be designed for is 800 x 600 this tends to be the industry standard to ensure the most amount of people can view it correctly.

From your desktop if you right click teh mouse and select properties then settings you can change the reolution to 800 x 600 to check it yourself.

Your pages look like html so you can design the tables as relative table sizes, this means that they will fit a certain percentage of the screen. There is also a piece of java script you can include which will detect the resolution of a persons pc and fit the detaisl on accordingly.

Second pointis that there appears to be two fonts used throughout the site - times new roman and arial. Whilst this is fine, generally you should try and stick to one font to provide a better overall look and feel.

I'm not an expert, but my husband is a web designer so this is how i know all this. If you need any more detail on the points above, let me know.

Thanks
Kathy

Thanks kathy

The site doesn't fit into a 800x600 browser, which can annoy people who still use that setting.

The only thing I would say is remove the counter, or get an invisible one. I've always thought they look unprofessional (just my personal opinion). If you've got access to the access logs you can also see the amount of visitors you're getting by running them through a proggie such as webalizer (linux - Not sure of windows based ones as I don't use them).

If you don't have access to the access logs, I'll try and dig up some "invisible" counters for you and PM you the details if you are interested..

Great site Andy, can't really say much more than the others cept I'm hungry!
