A website has sprung up in the U.S with the offer...

QUOTE
"Download as much music as you want for only $21.00 per year subscription"

Naturally, appearing to be a professional site, and with the increase in legal music downloading reported to be on the increase Americans are flocking to sign up and use the service.

However, when users have signed up and accessed the service, they are simply met with links to download P2P software like Kazaa, Bearshare and Grokster.

Furious internet users have swamped law enforcement with complaints, however the powers-that-be have admitted that there is little they can do, since the website is hosted outside of U.S jurisdiction and technically doesn't offer the consumer anything which it can't deliver.

It is reported that the owners of the site have made well over $250,000 from the venture which is believed to have appeared just before the Xmas holiday.

Admin's Thought....

Damn, I wish I'd thought of that 014.gif. I'll have to go back to selling Karen's bloomers on E-bay!

LOL, You don't seem to get the fact that it is a SCAM.

All the website is doing is taking $21 from you, and then telling you to download and use a P2P Application!. There are no music downloads or MP3's on the site - its a con.

A bit like me putting up a site that says. Earn upto £5,000,000 in a few minutes for £5.00. Then taking £5.00 from you and telling you to do the lottery

Is it being run out of quamtamo bay (sp) laugh.gif

Don't be fooled by "legal" download sites, I was going to sign to Dotmusic, £4.99 a month - Great. But the minute you "transfer" it, it's illegal. Most are encoded and time limits, unless you want Mike Moore's great hits, you can burn a copy of that one 221.gif
Gary
Ah but Mikeee, Ive told you how to get around time limited sound files already...

Theres a freeware program called "Silent Bob" which simply records EVERYTHING which goes out through you soundcard, directly onto your harddrive.

Takes me back to school does that one! We had one teacher who was full of them....surprised how many people he tricked with chequered paint, glider engines, left handed mallets, long stands, etc biggrin.gif

Back to the post subject tho...yeah its cheeky but what an idea! I guess even if it was hosted in the states, for example, it wouldnt strictly be 'illegal', just unethical as all you are doing is distributing (accurate) information
andrew dowding
wish i had thought of that as well
never mind
silent bob program is that good
chrismk

When playing them in WMP 9 and then selecting 'save as' would that not eliminate
the time limit on songs, just curious as so far I havnt had the nead for this function
