1990 was the last year for vinyl for me, being a 'wedding' DJ I don't think you can buy chart stuff on vinyl, I know if you could it would mean a 30 mile trip to get it, my local HMV type shop has even stopped selling CD singles now.

I only use my old vinyls now, since I've only bought CD's for the last few years.

CD's are just so much more flexible and easier to work with than vinyl - and thats not something which I would have said even 4 years ago. For example, being able to lengthen a CD track which the audience are enjoying, or shorten a CD song, which has halved the dancefloor, without the audience noticing.

This(?) months ATB magazine (mainly urban music from what I could gather during the 10 minutes browse I had in WHsmiths rolleyes.gif ) had a CD Vs Vinyl debate transcripted up, and those questioned gave vinyl little more than 5 more years.

Still buy the more specialised dance music on vinyl which I buy for my own listening, but also being a wedding / function dj it really isnt practical.

I sometimes wonder how djs managed with the weight of vinyl years ago (and how BUPA osteopaths seem to be minted biggrin.gif

We had women to carry it for us! Once played in the worlds northernmost town and took 300kgs of records with me!
Cheezy
Was that 300kg of woman or vinyl??????

I never use vinyl anymore, the last time i did was around 2 years ago on a small radio station. I'm going thru the process of putting alot of my vinyl onto CD as there are so many mixes, 12"s, etc that you just can't buy commercially on CD.

As long as you've got the patience and the right equipment to clean the signal up, the results are excellent. Problem is, it takes censored.gif ing ages !

Regards to all
