I have a DJM300. I finally got my decks to my house a couple of days ago now. One of the stylus's wasn't any good so I've had to order another. But anyway for now I have one operational turntable.

Mixer problem:

I've been told by the person I bought the mixer off that "75 % of the volume is in the last 25% of the travel". I assume that by travel he meant the fader movement.

On the mixer the volume faders only seem to increase the volume at a very steep level from 9-10, and when I'm playing channel 2 and move the channel 1 volume fader from 10 down (channel 1 isn't playing anything) , channel 2 gets louder automatically... is this natural?

How can you tell when you need to replace your fader(s) on a mixer?

The crossfader isn't working with only one turntable going... I think it must be a signal thing. So if I had 2 turntables operational then it would work? (Cut out channel 2 when I shift the cross-fader/x-fader across to channel 1)

I have many questions but rather than overload you guys I'll just have these for now biggrin.gif

When they start doing the things you have described!. Sounds like the track has worn on the fader its pretty common but unlike 99% of crossfaders the main channel faders are not a user replacable item. At least not unless you have moderate electronic skills or are friends with an Electronics Engineer / repair shop.

Its worth remembering that mixing / scratching D.J's are likely to wear out faders and x-faders far quicker than the average mobile DJ.

There isn't really anything you can do, other than get the fader replaced. I don't want to state the obvious but maybe you should have asked this question and then found out the cost of the required repair BEFORE you bought the mixer??.

If it ia a 4 channel mixer, use Channels 3 and 4 instead

So from what I've said, how the volume increases very sharply from volume range 9-10 would that mean I should replace both of them? One of them I'm sure needs replacing as when it's on 10 and I move it to 9 it gets louder!

Thanks for all the input so far smile.gif

The non~linear (eg: half way up is NOT half volume) increase/decrease of a fader, is called its "Curve".

Whilst several mixers offer their users a curve control for the crossfader, normally a small switch marked "crossfade curve" and offering "sharp, middle, or soft", it is somewhat rarer for a mixer to have a curve adjust on its upfaders.

Does anyone know if pioneer DJM-300 volume faders are replaceable? I know the crossfader is ... but are the volume faders ???
