The internationally acclaimed DJ and producer who is currently on tour with Madonna is also about to unleash his latest album Perfecto Vegas (Thrive/Perfecto) on July 14th. Amazingly enough, pre-digital sales of the album beat the late and legendary Michael Jackson to the #1 spot on iTunes’ dance chart and #1 on the Amazon digital album chart this week. The man simply cannot be stopped. After almost 20 years in the music business, workaholic Paul Oakenfold has proven yet again that he's still at the top of his game. Where there is a demand, "Oakie" can still most certainly supply us with the goods.
This double CD set consists of 21 exclusive tracks, hand selected and mixed by Oakenfold. The set focuses on the less pop leaning, “classic Oakenfold” sound that core fans have been begging for since his Grammy-nominated 2004 release, Creamfields.
Along with an extensive tour with Madonna, Oakenfold will also co-headline such major summer festival dates as Wireless in the UK, Red Rocks and the Electric Daisy Carnival at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
Touted as being one of the most versatile artists in the business, Oakenfold has built up an impressive resume composing music for film, TV, and video games. Most recently, he has scored The Bourne Conspiracy video game, composed the theme to the hit TV show Big Brother, and contributed tracks to the upcoming Jerry Bruckheimer film G-Force.
Oakenfold continues to work on his new original studio album, Pop Killer, which will be released in 2010. The project already features collaborations with The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, and Ce-Lo. His previous two solo releases have sold over 2 million units combined.
