in response to me being suspended for advertising other disco equipment, I was merely giving advice to the person who was interested in buying certain lighting. I thought the whole point of this forum was to chat and help each other out if they need advice etc not try to work other stuff into them. As a retailer of disco equipment myself i understand the difficulties involved in keeping a steady customer base and i know you cant supply a "certain" brand as i have has the same problem a few years back. if poeple want help and advice i shall try to offer them an unbiased opinion instead of putting across that you can supply them with something else becuase you cant stock "wanted products"
if you want to ban me for good then fine. i just wanted to let you know how i feel about it.

Perhaps the title of your post would be more truthful if you used the title.."How I got myself SUSPENDED" or "WHY I CHOSE TO IGNORE 3 WARNINGS". Had you have really been banned then you would never have been able to make this post.
1150+ other members seem to be able to understand and happily follow the rules so why should you be treated any differently.
If you don't like the way in which the forum is run then don't come back and post here, it really is that simple. The rules were available to you before and displayed during the sign up procedure so exactly why did you register and agree to them?.
How do you think this forum stays here G.P? - its not on free space donated by the host, neither is it held here with blutac or double sided sticky tape. This forum cost's money, time and a lot of EFFORT - and in the last 12 months I have spent well over £1000 on various aspects of it - who is going to foot the bill in the future G.P?? - You?.

No, I can't make people buy from me, that isn't the point, if that were the case then there would be CSL banners greeting you at every opportunity not to mention pop ups, special offers in my signature etc, but there isn't, so that is your argument settled right away. For your information the forum generates only an extra 1% of sales...if i'm lucky, but i'll be damned if i'm paying large amounts of money for freeloaders and any competitors to advertise and hence cash in on my work and effort.
If I really wanted to "Work stuff into them" I would be spamming you with CSL Offers every week, after all, your email address is in the database, so how many monthly special offers emails have you had from me G.P??, there are 1000's of ways I could "misuse" this forum for my own business purposes if I chose to do so, but I don't. So your very public accusation is without any foundation whatsoever.
In short you are using the tired old philosophy that I am using the forum solely to further my own business. Well you couldn't be further from the truth. I don't use this forum for a 1000th of its potential in that respect. In fact last month I even removed my website URL from my signature. I don't force sales on anybody unless i'm invited to quote. Why not spend a bit more time reading 12 months worth of posts to see this fact for yourself before you go spouting off!!!!. This forum is funded by my business and YES, i try and claw back some of what it costs but this is where the relationship ends.
However the aim of the forum is to be self supporting - in other words the extra revenue that come from any additional sales as a result of this forum go back into funding it..I don't have £1000 to personally fund the forum from my own pocket...and believe me, i'm not THAT generous. But perhaps you'd perfer a subscription basis?, or donation request?, or porn pop ups?.
It think personally the whole point of your post is that you have been stopped from promoting your own business or associates via this site and you don't like it, well you haven't paid one penny into the running, setting up and maintenance of this forum G.P, neither do you spend hours here with your 13 posts - so I really don't see your issue.
Of course you also promote / link to CSL and DJU with a large banner from your own website too don't you, and at every opportunity you get elsewhere? which is in essence what you expect me to do from here.
There are plenty of other forums around where you can go and peddle your wares, so if my rules are too "strict" for you, or you are here purely to advertise then please do us both a favour and move onto one of them.

I really don't buy that excuse - You were warned three times before you were suspended - and each time you openly ignored the requests from the moderators to stop posting links to other suppliers which in itself casts doubt about your real reasons for being here. Considering the post above is your first one back after your suspension ended doesn't exactly give me hope for the future either.
My last monthly google DJU adwords bill was for £247.82 and hosting fees are due on 15th Feb - so where shall I forward the bill?

jackwabbit chris as said above spends a lot of money running this forum so i can understand why he is not calm about this, there are not many rules on this forum but the advertising rule is the main 1 its not a hard rule to understand but time after time people keep breaking it.
and just because chris does not stock a particular product im sure he sells something similar and he does not stop you from sending a individual user a p.m letting him know of the product you were recomending.

I also run a web site at my own cost, & arrange holidays for groups of people in the club I belong to. But there is always someone who complains about something, I used to get wound up because those who complain NEVER put any effort back into the club.
NOW my answer is if you don’t like it tough ! you do it next time.
Life’s too short to get wound up all the time, just chill out & take it easy.

Nobody has ever been banned for giving their opinions on any disco products on this forum - we are all open minded and make up our own minds... but it is a very simple rule that you do not advertise suppliers for the very obvious reason that the site is owned and run by a supplier!

Presuming that everyone on here is able to read, then the rules are very specific.... and 99% of us dont have a problem - if another retailer doesnt like the fact that they cant use this forum as a base to launch their services then perhaps they are better off elsewhere. We welcome everyone on here.... the good, the bad and the ugly (mentioning no names!!) but just ask yourself this question....
