Last night I went to a New Years Eve party at my local club. (I didnt DJ this year for NYE)

Deep Heat disco (a well respected DJ and disco) this man has been DJ'ing for years in Surrey, he even did my mums engagement party before I was born! He is a very good disco the best I have ever seen, really knows his stuff and tunes

He uses some old equipment. Light screens, speakers ect. The sound equipment is a pair of old Gu...... Electro Acoustics something (Forgot the name love to know again do you know?) And a pair of old Cloud bass bins.

The point im trying to make is the sound seems much better than some of the speakers today! These speakers still have the orginal drivers must be at least 20 years old and still sound really sweet. Great midrange!

They say that speakers and improved, sound ect. But the old stuff sounds so good still.

Im sure some you remember Squire, HH Electronic (I had a pair of these speakers) Custom Sound ect!

Of course "old" stuff sounds better. They were the days things were built properly and to last. If you want really good sounding cab's they really should be constructed with 3/4 inch, birch faced marine ply. The down side - two people to lift them. I could go on, but I would probably boring the the pants off you.

I use a pair of really old EV400's because I love the sound of them. I've no idea how old they are. I bought them second hand over 5 years ago from a Frank Sinatra tribute singer, no idea how long he had had them but they had certainly been permanantly mounted somewhere before he got them as they had a mounting bar on the back and one corner of one of them has been melted by lights. The only reason I would think of getting new ones is because they look their age, but any new ones would have to really impress me before I changed.
