Hello again

What sort of background music do you all play at the start of the night when all the party goers are arriving, It would be interseting to find out the sort of tracks you all play spam.gif
Chrispy
Usually depending on the age range of the Audience. Older and more formal audiences such as Weddings etc, I tend to use compilations (Greatest Love Songs ever, Greatest Love songs ever, ever vol 2 smile.gif ) etc you get the picture!. More informal / younger audiences just get a selection of easy listening chart / ex chart.

If there are a lot of Kids at the function then I tend to skip the boring background music bit and use the 1st 30 mins to 1 hour using this time to entertain the Kids at the venue (Saves the embarrassing "Can you play steps please" request when the adults are dancing to something completely different later in the Evening). This was a tip from Karen, for which I will be eternally grateful for smile.gif since it works wonders and stops the little censored.gif from running riot and getting bored and also increases your professionalism at the same time.

I obviously do the same as chris for the kids.... but even if its adults only I try to get em going from the first tune - so I dont play any "greatest love" albums or stuff like that.... I will vary what I play and watch under the tables for those feet tapping.... you know as soon as those toes start then you can get the party up and running at the beginning rather than wait till two hours before the end!

As stated above but i think the only background stuff i do is for older audiences and tends to be a bit Randy Crawford,Clapton,Eagles.Sting etc otherwise i just go straight at it at clubs, occasionaly play some stuff that isnt danceable aswell

Depending on the event, guests, age group, etc.

If there is a few kids at a wedding which is more the norm than exception recently Ill play a few for them, at my residency the adults are usually through in the other bar at the start of an evening so someones got to stop the sliding across the dance floor! (anyone notice wedding guests forget about their kids as the disco begins!)

Ive got a few minidiscs made up building in tempo as they progress, mixture of new and old stuff with David Gray, Dido, Sheryl Crow, etc to name a couple.

Ive got a few love compilations which I use for dinner dances but only very occasionally for weddings unless it looks like the guests really do need easing into the evening!

galaxypromotions
best of DMC spans from 70s to 2002 (not sure what album its off but always works, and they are up dancing)
