Every 6 weeks or so there's usually a question here regarding software to catalogue vinyl/cd/mp3 collections, and a couple of times I have recommended a programme called CATraxx as an extremely good solution.

One thing that I haven't mentioned before is that there is a very good forum for this software where you'll be able to find answers to anything regarding getting the most out of this very powerful programme. i have found in the past that every question i have asked has been answered within 24 hours and usually within a couple of hours. The link is: CATraxx forum

This should be of use to those of you that have started using this programme. thumbup.gif

I have just downloaded Catraxx 6.1 demo software.I think I must be loosing it a bit-I couldn't understand where to begin.I opened up a new database, scanned my music library;with great difficulty and nothing happened!!!
Everytime I opened up the programme file I had to install the damn thing!
When I tried to scan an album using the internet data file thingy it tells me I have to register and then it informs me that It cannot find the server.
So I have lost patience with the damn thing and uninstalled it(it took nearly 40 mins to download)and as if to add insult to injury I think its given my PC a temporary stroke because I cant get any website now.
I have had to shut down and restart my computer to get back to normal.

Did you scan it for potential viruses before you installed it???

In a word NO!!
I didnt give it a thought that I might need to.
Nevertheless I still found it somewhat difficult to understand. There seemed too many options.Perhaps I might try again later.

Sounds strange; I've never ever had a problem when installing CATraxx. It never took me more than a few minutes. I've installed it on various PC's I've had over the past few years and have also installed it for friends on their PC's. I know also that Ian Stewart installed the programme and as far as I know he never encountered any problems either.

The only possibilities I can think of are one of the following:
You've just been very unlucky
Your PC already contained a virus
You incorrectly installed the software
There is a driver conflict

CATraxx has a forum and you can usually find answers to questions very quickly on there. The support is also very good. Every time I've ever asked a technical question, the actual developer of the programme has answered me within 24 hours.
You can find the forum address on the CATraxx home page and also the support email address.
