Classic track indeed. Never been asked for it but have used as part of a background set at a resideny in the past.
Although I've been asked to play Boney M's popular 'Rivers of Babylon' and 'Brown Girl In The Ring' at gigs, I might just dig this out tonight and perform the Dukesy one man tribute "Dance of the Cossacks" ...for one night only of course. Youtube - I'm the one towards the end in the hat.

Brown Girl in the Ring brings back a very vivid memory for me. I was doing a rather tame 60th which consisted of the ladies dancing, more out of politeness than anything else, when I played this track. The room changed almost instantly, the floor filled and people were clapping and singing.
It was amazing.
I like a lot of Boney M...I still have the Nighflight to Venus on vinyl.

Played it again last night. Full floor. Most popular song of the night by a mile.
Best played close to the end of a wedding reception.
Agreed other Boney M tracks are popular particularly wiht older folk.

i went to see boney m a few months ago, i think i had best stick to the recordings. to say the best, they were a vocal group that really couldnt sing.
However some of the recordings are really good!

I can't believe it. Received a playlist with a Boney M track request. It's not 'Rasputin' but who knows, maybe 'Brown Girl in the Ring' will have the same effect on the dance floor as Norfolk had!
