I have just had another call to try to get a booking for New Years Eve (tomorrow)
I thought at first they were trying to book for 2004 but no it was defiantly 2003, I can’t believe people leave it this late.

So far over the last two weeks 13 people have phoned for NYE & they all seem desperate.

Sometimes its a case of the cowboy element of the industry letting people down. I would hope that nobody on this forum would work like this

..but it is very very common ....

Landlord H finds bodget & scarpers' number and speaks to Mr Bodget who realises that Landlord H is desperate. Seeing an opportunity Mr Bodget announces that he will do the pub for £600 for the "inconvenience" of having to re-arrange his schedule.

Landlord H heaves a sigh of relief...he now has a DJ!!. However Bodget and Scarper now have a problem 2 bookings and 1 disco. Mr Bodget is a cowboy and only in the business for the money so he phones Mrs X, and apologises, but he has had an "accident" and cannot fulfil his contract. Mrs X will have to find a DJ elsewhere.

Mrs X now hasn't got a DJ, in sheer desperation she reaches for the Yellow pages and begins ringing around all of the D.Js.................

I had a call for a disco tomorrow night as well, the guy from the pub said do you know anyone else who could do it that is any good! After rolling around the floor holding my belly I said errrrrr sorry I can't just think of anybody at the moment.

well its my first nye this year and was doing a wedding in april when the manager of the venue(a social club)asked me'i suppose your already booked up for nye already',i said 'not yet',i quoted,he paid in full(£350)there and then and i picked up a fairly regular customer at the same time,quite a night considering it was a last min booking because the wedding party was let down at 12 hrs notice!!!!.

think the moral of this story is look after people and they will look after you!!!

Yippppeeeeee New Years Eve

Hope you all have a good one.

I was hoping to go to a club's 70's night but its not on this year, insted School Disco.com have taken over 6 clubs apparently for tonight

& me cant bring meself to wear over the knee socks and a school uniform

So after having me earoles bent and me arms broken I am going out on a Karaoke with another Kj, will take family and friends wit me, me finks

and it's Fancy Dress

After setting up numerous pieces of hire kit already, i'm now knackered and ready for bed let alone driving between two functions at various stages of the Evening

- will I last until 12.00 before collapsing in a heap??- bets are now on!

And I am driving...... not only the gear but also family members to one of the gigs that i'm attending in order to see the New Year in with me.....Arrrrrrrrrrr

, so there will be me and a handful of taxi drivers sober tonight

If you are also having a sober and working one, then take care and have a good night, but don't be tempted to Drink and Drive....even tonight and drive safetly it's gonna be Icy and in some parts, Snowy later tonight!

Had two phone calls this year between xmas and new year for a last minute booking, neither said if they had been let down but i presume nobody can really leave it this late expecting a 'professional' disco!!!

Just finished setting up an hour ago....word of warning as Chris said its going to be icy.....i only have to climb 3 steps to reach the function room but had to borrow most of the kitchens salt to make them remotely safe!!! Might be an idea to put a tupperware of salt in the car / van with you

I'm out at a village hall where you've got to bring you're own booze and food, I'm tempted to leave the gear over night and fetch it tomorrow but for the sake of a couple of beers I don't know yet. Anyway I hope everyone whose working tonight has a great time and a HAPPY NEW YEAR to all on the forum!!!

well for me I'm in a local pub that I have worked both Xmas & New Year Ever for the past 5 years (The Manager Is An Old Friend Of Mine),

Sharon is driving and as most of our friends are comings as well should be a great night.

heres one for you.its new years eve,6pm,im just getting ready to go to a gig ive had booked since september in a pub 20 miles away.
PHONE RINGS, "hi can you cover a party tonight mate our resident dj has let us down." i explained i was booked etc....to cut it short this guy had been with them a long time,plus it was a very large hotel in the area.
Just goes to show about the best layed plans etc. dont know whats happened to their dj but i bet he dont work there no more.
