I have a copy of the Cha Cha Slide, It was the biggest floor killer all over Xmas, wished I hadn't bothered. No serious Radio airplay, no go in the disco.

I think that the Cha Cha Slide works at functions where the majority of people have been on holiday to Spain, Greece, Turkey etc where it was a massive Summer hit...........for almost every summer in the last 3 years . A Friend bought me a copy of it in 2001 when it was "big" on the continent - she also reports that it was being over played there during her holidays in 2002 and 2003 also .

I think its ones of those tunes that you cant just chuck on and leave... you HAVE to get out there witht the audience and show em how to do it... they wouldnt know what criss cross or charlie brown was unless you showed em! In the time ive played this, I pick the audience very carefully... its not something that shared the same success as 5678, macarena or similar... it was another one of those tunes used a lot by uk holiday companies. The track works but only for a limited number of audiences - and showing them how its done is a must!

During 2001 I decided that I would try to teach the members of my social club the moves to cha cha slide (I was introduced to it by a Linedance teacher) so that we could have a floor full of cha cha sliders on New years eve of 2001/2002.
Unfortunately they were not really interested so it died a death, but I am glad it seems to have made a comeback and worked for most of you this year.
I am right in assuming that it is a new dance or has it been around for years.
When I was doing it in 2001 I thought that it was a new fun dance at the time.
