I currently have on my rig a Spektronic BrokenSwing, 2 Twister 4's
(linked) A Globe light and a Fantasy DTS Moonflower. I have around £200 to spend on new lighting. I feel that my lighting lacks movement ie all it does is rotates, so i was thinking a scanner / scanners of some sort. I've looked around and seen the MojoScan by Geni (Mojo Scan 1). Can anyone recommend this, or have any similar suggestions. I don't have a DMX controller so it will need to be sound to light for the moment! I have also seen the Mojo Spin, what difference does a barrel mirror make compared with a scanning mirror?
thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Hi, I use two mojo III effects, they're okay but you need a couple of them to make any sort of light show. But they do look great with a bit of smoke.

I love lighting - it really creates atmosphere which is our aim.
I'm an addict and always over spend on lighting - what I've got planned for 2004 is rediculous. It's little wonder I make very little money if any.
£200 is not alot to play with in my opinion - you'd be struggeling to get anything of an value to your show although if you stretch a bit I'd recommend a pair of Soundlab "Colour Scans" they are DMX, will work of music and they even throw in a DMX board. At the price you really couldnt ask for more, well.....
But the best way you could ever spend it in my most honest opinion
Geni - XTC
This is possibly the best value intelligent lighting effect ever made!!
I bought my first one I think at the end of 1997 - Im about to buy another 2 for another roadshow of mine.
When I bought it first time around it was £179 which I still consider to be great value,
But now you can get the improved (although that would be hard) effect for £70. Get 2 and you'll still be infront.
I hate to admit it but EDITED would be a pretty good place to buy this, they recently had an offer which they worked out at just £60 but was part of a £170 package and the rest of it was pathetic.
Now what could you spend that other £60 quid on - OOooh I know, but you'd need another tenner taking you to £210 not far off sez Carol Smilie.
Don't rem who it's by but it's called "Slasher" and it's like the old NJD "Sword" but brighter and the effect is sharp, looks great through some smoke or haze.
I'll keep thinking about it and let you know,
Ross.

There are a lot of really good effects out just now priced between £100 and £140
Chauvet's "Corona" is one of these @ £134
the effect looks great, colours are bright and sharp - uses to 150W lamps so it keeps your power requirements down.
Looks amazing through smoke or haze.
I'm about to order one.
My only complaint of it (and it's a biggy) but I'm gonna wave it this time cos its so good is it's shape, this is very bulky and it's understandable when you appreciate how the effect works. I would also have liked to have seen some control - but this is a budget effect and would have taken it out of it's market area.
Regards,
Ross.
I'm good at this stuff cos my technical/working knowledge of equipment is second to none (so I'm told by a friend who owns a DJ shop - better than his own sales team).
Any questions just ask...

Trev..don't let him get to you. Myself and the mods have "dealt" with the problem. I would have expected more from a member who has been here for months and as "Ninelives" stated..... long enough to know the rules, but it goes to show how you never can tell!.

Please dont advertise any new dj eqipment what so ever and buy the new mojo XTC light, the effect off them in out of this world, the cover most of the room, take a low cost 250 watt lamp (not elc259 or "datamoon bulbs") and are a bargain at £75 each

Why not just rename this thread to "Please ban me"??

G.P if you had bothered to read the entire thread you would have seen the previous warning given to another member for advertising.
