I mentioned in another thread that I had ordered this, and what a bargain it could turn out to be. Well it arrived yesterday & although this is the first laser I have owned I challenge anyone to buy one and be disappointed!

This same laser is selling on Amazon for just under £120, and elsewhere at even higher prices. I picked it up for the princely sum of £50 (Yes £50!)

It has a nice contoured look to it, and is a doddle to operate. a 20 second burst of smoke shows it off to its full potential, so much that even the missus was impressed! You get two keys, and a full instruction manual that includes details of all your dmx channels thats all in plain english.

Go grab one!

Here's what you get for £50

8 DMX channels, 32 patterns
Master/slave mode
Auto or sound activation operation
Adjustable sensitivity control
7 segment LED display
Key control for laser emission
Fan cooled
Solid metal housing with mounting bracket
Specification:
Power supply 230Vac, 50Hz
Laser class 3B
Scanning angle ±20°
Dimensions 87 x 220 x 245mm
Weight 2kg

As a matter of interest, is there a window covering the laser aperture (hole at the front) and can the key be removed whilst in the 'on' possition?
Is it CE marked?

Hi Jim. I'm not sure what I'm looking for properly regarding the window. The actual laser appears to be side on as I look directly from the front.
The key cannot be removed from the on position. And yes it is CE marked.

Hi Jim. I'm not sure what I'm looking for properly regarding the window.

The 'hole' where the laser beam comes out of the unit, is it covered with glass, or can you put your finger through the hole and touch the mirrors that reflect the beam.

It is a good sign that they have started making them so the key cannot be removed unless switched to the off position thumbup.gif

Ah I see. Well in that case no there isn't a cover although the mirrors seem well recessed. Well out of harms way so to speak.

In that case it doesn't conform to the standards required for lasers.
I would be asking the manufacturer for the certificate to prove it does meet the required standards, as somebody suggested in the other thread.

I would have thought that a company such as Skytronic would have made sure before they sell a product though.

Not to mention Amazon omg.gif

Edit: I just did a quick google and found this, which if correct gives the all clear.

When purchasing a laser please check that the system has ALL of the following features ... this will ensure that the laser system complies fully with both UK and European regulations. If any one of the following is missing, the laser system will be illegal to operate within the UK:

Please ensure that the laser system...
1. Is encased within a protective housing, which apart from the laser aperture, will prevent you direct access to the laser module and therefore laser radiation

2. Has a remote key switch master control; the key should be removable therefore rendering the system inoperable in your absence

3. Has visible, permanently fixed laser radiation emission warning stickers; these should be located so that viewing does not require exposure to laser radiation

This is refering to where the beem can be seen from, obviously it needs to be able to exit the case at the correct place which is the aperture.
The aperture needs to be covered to prevent anything being able to interfere with the operation of the galvos/mirrors.
