Afternoon All,
I after your thoughts on songs for a 40th birthday, guests ages 25-50. They have requested that I play some old school dance, sing a long, party, reggae and some up to date, but no R&B.
There will only be approx 60 guests attending so i'd like to make the evening go with a bang and keep the floor as full as possible.
So with the request list above what would your suggestions be ? Im playing from 20:00 to 00:00
Cheers,
Phil.

Hi Phil,
with only 2hrs - this should be really easy - in fact, if they are really up for one genre, you could run out of time for the rest!...
What have you done so far?
There are 5 genres listed, only 20mins each....

Play it byear on the night, you can never tell exactly what they want.
Why not take a copy of Mastermixes "Jock in a box" with you, very helpful. £35 from all good disco shops.

It looks like you have 4 hours to work with not 2 hours, but as with all parties they really getting going towards the end.
Old School Dance means different things to different people. To me it is more really old House and Rave (like LFO, House Nation, Stakker Humonoid, Sweet Harmony), than Dance, but I would definately be playing some of the 90s Dance floorfillers
- Ce Ce Peniston - Finally
- Robin S - Show Me Love
- Corona - Rhythm of The Night
- Livin Joy - Dreamer
- Strike - U Sure Do
- Bobby Brown - 2 Can Play That Game
- Reel 2 Reel - I like to Move It
- Original - I Luv U baby
- N-Trance - Set You Free
- Oceanic - Insanity
- Sash - Encore Une Fois
- Faithless - Insomnia
- Prodigy - Out of Space
- SL2 - On A Ragga Tip
- 2 Unlimited - Get Ready For This
- Bizarre Inc - Playing With Knives (played on Radio One this morning!)
Party stuff you can play a selection from 60s, 70s, 80s and mix it up with Singalong stuff, early doors and to finish. Try and go for a big finish and keep a big tune in the bag, so after you have 'finished' you can hit them with that!
Reggae I know nothing about so would love to hear what others come up with.
