I have seen on this forum that I’m not the only one to be asked silly questions, is it only DJ’s that get this or does it happen to other professions?
Here are just a few from Friday only,
Are you the DJ? (No I just like carrying this heavy equipment around)
Can you play some music? (This was after 1 ½ hours with most people dancing)
Do you have something decent? (This was after 2 hours with most people dancing, and when asked what he called decent he didn’t know, garage or something was his answer)
Do you have the record by……Errr I can’t remember his name but it goes der..de..dum or something like that, it was used in that film, “what film” you must know you’re the DJ. (Ok so now we have to be mind readers)
Can I have a look at your CD’s? After about 2minuets they give up and say “you don’t have much choice do you/” (With over 10,000 tracks what they mean to say is I can’t be bothered to look through that lot)
Now I have a question. Why is it that when someone asks for a request, they leave the room as soon as it starts?

How about: "Can you put something on for the under 50's cos nobody is dancing."
A smile and a quick point in the direction of the packed dancefloor and you make your thoughts known without having to say a word.
Or: "Do you have 'x' by 'y'"
When 'x' does not and has not ever released 'y' and the punter is always right and you are always wrong. When you get round to playing their request, cos you know you're right they say: "Yeah, that one... I told you 'x' sang it." <grrr>
<I'm just getting going now!>... Have you got any dance music?
What would you're definition of dance music be??? Anyone can dance to music, but what do you want?
Reply: "Just some dance music."
Will that be House, Garage, Trance, Euphoric, R&B.... and so on!
I'll have to stop here, or I'll be at this all night :-)

Classic 'guest' comments:
"Can you put on something decent, nobody is dancing..." BUT THERE ALREADY IS
"Got any dance music?" - YOUR ALREADY PLAYING INSOMNIA TO DA CROWD
"I was in the bar / toilet when you played my song. Can you play it again?" TWIT
"It's not for me, my friend want's this request" YEAH RIGHT
"Got any Nivana, Led Zepp or Metallica?" YOU'RE DOING AN 85th SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY
"The person whose party is for, wants this record request - now!" BUT YOU ALREADY HAVE THE CLIENT'S PLAYLIST - AND THIS 'REQUEST' IS NOT WANTED
"Can I look thru your CD's?" politely....SORRY, NO!

yes... heard them all before.... but how many of you have ever been asked if y ou were the stripper! heheheh!
One intelligent punter on Friday, came up and asked me who originally done "never can say goodbye" (I was playing the gloria gaynor version at that point). His mates absolutely ridiculed him thinking he had lost the plot, so I was really happy to announce that although GG had done it in 1974, michael jackson had done it with his bro's in 1971! Isnt it great when you can back somebody up!
