As some of you may have noticed by my posts I am going to upgrade my pa system after the new year. I have already asked about speakers so I need advice on amps. I work in a nightclub where they use QSR amps so obviously they must be good but they are expensive as well, I have a 1500w peavey amp at the moment and I used to have a back up amp until the other day as I sold it on. I am probably going to be investing in some bass bins for the likes of the large hotels and marquess etc.. so I need another amp of the same wattage or maybe more. My dilemma is do I buy another peavey amp or do I get something more expensive like the QSR range?

I know the QSC are good amps , but as you say expensive, but I dont know why the diff?
I am more than happy with my Peavey amp , the same one as you are using PV1500 ? for the price of the qsc you could have another 2 Peavey's or buy the big brother to the PV1500 and still have change for some other new equipment

I agree with 9lives, the Peavey amps are just as powerful and as well made as the QSC RMXs, with the addition of 2 active xovers and 5year warranties. The reason they are cheaper is that Peavey have a UK base whereas don't. Remember in the US the QSC RMX 2450 is cheaper than the Peavey PV2600. go peavey, you won't look back.

for High quality amps use QSC, C-Audio, Crown, or Peavey
Go for Peavey if on a tight budget. very relaible and will last for years!

Thanx for the replies, I think I'm going to go for another Peavey. The one I've got is fine and as mentioned they are within my budget. It was just that I was reading a spec on one of the QSR ranges and they have the facility to find the best setting without distortion if the amp starts to clip. So it's always running at best perfromance at all times. I did'nt know whether it was things like that which makes them more expensive than other ranges.

I thinkl the Peavy does a similar thing using its DDT ,when you see the red LED on your peavy amp thats its DDT kicking in , it wont let you over drive the amp , "Unless" ! you have used the DDT defeat button on the back of the amp , which is not a good idea

Have you looked at HZ amps yet ? very light and reasonably priced, about £500 for a 1.5Kw weighing very little
