All Cables-
------------

Included with the setup are 5 DMX leads (4x 6metres and 1x 1metre) and all power cables to setup and get going imediatly!

So how much?-
----------------

With all the equipment in this setup only being under 2 week old I am going to have to put a price of around £900 o.n.o for this setup. The navigators cost around £235.00, the explorer costs around £235.00 and the lazer scan sells for around £300-400. The controller sells for around £110. All cables cost around £50.

This comes to a toal of around £1450! I think £900 is a great price for all this kit! Here are some photos of the actual units.

So how do I make an offer?-
---------------------------------

If you want to make an offer then pelase e-mail me at chris.dawson@ntlworld.com with your offer. With there being alot of kit I would recommend that you come to collect this. I will however deliver to the north london/ Essex area but would prefer you collect. If you cannot collect then I will send with a courier at your cost. This will be £19 with Parcel2Go.com.

Thanks for looking!

not being funny, but wouldnt it have been far more cost effective to have hired this - especially now as you are going to lose money on it!
bushboy
well it wasnt certain that the kit would be sold after the concert. the school was planning on buying it off me to keep it as a permenant setup but changed there minds. I have no use for it at the moment

Chauvet equipment loses value very quickly, since their trade price can drop dramatically especially when the £ is favourable against the US dollar smile.gif and some dealers are advertising these new for half the RRP.

Maybe you would get more interest on Ebay?.
bushboy
yeah i have put these on ebay as well.. had loads of looks but no bids yet. if they dont go for what im asking (£900) then ill lower it to 800... I wont drop bellow what i paid for these... must make a profit heh... i will however break even rolleyes.gif

I'll moan at you if you like.

I have 3 Chauvet Micro-Scans and 2 Micro-Barrels (old type) and they have not let me down since I bought them second hand ages ago.

They were 2 yrs old when I bought them but were and still are in perfect condition.

They are compact, light, and very bright with a 250 watt lamp and both barrels and scans can be linked together using dmx.

In my opinion they are an excelent dmx fixture.

I suppose that Chris is going to ask if I want my dummy back that I just spat out of my pram. lol laugh.gif

Chauvet = Crap and I DO sell their gear!! scared.gif . Only Chauvet could re-launch a 250W effect as a MK2 with a 150W lamp! wallbash.gif - usually upgrading products is an opportunity to make them better / brighter however on this occasion Chauvet chose for some reason to DOWNgrade the microscan range!. (Joe obviosuly has the slightly better MK1 250W version....lucky for him)

Their customer service has become rubbish since another company bought out and took over the UK distribution and I have had to wait 8 weeks for stock to arrive and almost 3 months for spares. The only way I finally got spares out of them was to complain bitterly to their US head office.

A nightmare for a distributor, so imagine what level of service you would get as a consumer?. I know of a colleague in the industry who is so censored.gif off with Chauvet's UK operation he buys directly from abroad!! 363.gif

Chuavet's UK operation appear to be cutting down the amount of stock and spares they keep in the UK and this is NOT good news!.

Chauvet's reputation is rapidly failing and the 2nd hand value is worthless, I would be very interested to see if Bushboy DID get the original price for the Chauvet stuff he had for sale. Competition on lighting effects is intense and Chauvet has always been overpriced for what it is and does.

They brought out a light which is the same as the NJD Sword called the Slasher. Is the slasher made with cheap compoments? as it is cheaper then the orginal NJD Sword!

Yes customer service is bad. They also had major problems with transformers in certain lights they made. A lot of people had to take them back to be replaced.
Chrispy
Prices of NJD products fell dramatically when they were bought out by *Ahem* another company beginning with "S" and all production was moved abroad. You'll find that there is vey little price difference between the NJD and the Chauvet.

I think that you also answered your own question in your post regarding which would be te best option smile.gif

Glad I came acroos this topic 'cos there are so many different makes about, one
gets lost as to what is good or rubbish, I have a few GENI products in my setup
but only one is DMX and Im looking into going a bit further with the DMX effects
and I was looking at buying the Chavet DMX-50 Controller priced @ £195.00
would I be wasting my time with this product and are most DMX lighting effects
compatable

Cheers

First I can understand ANYONE buying Chav, chauv, cha, Shove it in the bin products, let alone spend a grand on the rubbish, I know I am going to upset some people but it is CRAP.

As for the set up, why did you buy it for them ?, if they were going to buy it off you after the concert surely you would have got a deposit of some kind, or just let them buy it themselves. I would have spent that amount of money on anything unless I was guarenteed not to have it in my garage afterwards.

I know it called experience but hiring the kit in would have been the way I would have done it, then if they wanted it, give them the price and buy it in, take the kit back to the hire shop, who would then give you discount if you brought the set up and you would have many some money without losing anything.

Lastly £900 is far too steep, I don't know what your costs were but if I were you I would put a reserve on it of £550 and bite the bullet just to get rid of the rubbish, or buy a set of speakers etc and use it as another set up/back up

Also next time spend a bit more cash and get some decent quality lights that will be easier to sell on or last longer if you keep them
HopDJ
Just wondering, has the equipment been sold yet?

Good Point ADS, I chuckled reading through that lol

CHAVET DEBATE !! LOL

I don't know what the fuss is to be honest.

I've had mostly chauvet lights since day one and I've never had one fail!

I've bought others becuase of this to be honest.

The only other units I've had were a pair of NJD chaos but I sold them on as they seemed to blow a bulb every other gig (some bulb as obsession) and there was very little difference between the 2.

I even dropped an obsession unit down 2 flights of stairs uncased and after hammering out all the dents (it was very bent!!!) it worked first time.

The bulbs seem to last for ages in them (except the abyss)

I can't comment on customer service because in 3 years reasonable use(twice most weekends) not one has failed!
