I have been asked once or twice for metallica but they always seem to go down like a lead balloon... most of there songs have way too elaborate and long winded intros and last too long ..what are you guys playing when asked for metallica?..also i get the reply "anything" by metallica when i ask what song by metallica from the often drunk old rockers asking the request..
Enter Sandman is probably the most "neutral friendly" and most well known of Metallica's tracks but if you are dealing with purveyors of the Finest thrash metal then you may want to give a run-out to the following tracks:
Master of Puppets (Master of Puppets Album)
Am I Evil (a cover of the old Diamond Head classic) (EP)
Creeping Death (Ride the Lightning)
Blitzkreig (Ride the Lightning)
Seek & Destroy (Kill 'em All)
Whiplash (Kill 'em All)
One (....And Justice For All)
& a couple of "end of nighters":
Nothing Else matters (Black Album)
Welcome Home (Sanitarium) (Master of Puppets)
Hope this helps expand your knowledge and understanding of the greatest band ever to walk this earth!
By the way.... I seriously wouldn't bother with any of the stuff released after the "Black Album" - Metallica went a little bit "off the rails" for a while and the material they produced just wasn't the same.

hi everyone,
i have a disco coming up soon and my client has asked for a lot of rock music. can you tell me which you would put on the playlist.
thanks john
It's an extremely wide area of music you are being asked to pick from - as the other guys quite rightly state you really need more input from the client as to exactly which genre of Rock they require. As a kind of heads up, I would make sure you stock up on music from as many of the following bands as you possibly can:
AC/DC
Aerosmith
Alice Cooper
Alice In Chains
Bad Company
Bachmann Turner Overdrive
Black Sabbath
Bon Jovi
Deep Purple
Def Leppard
Faith No More
Free
Foo Fighters
Graham Bonnet
Green Day
Guns 'n' Roses
Hawkwind
Iron Maiden
Jane's Addiction
Joan Jett & the Blackhearts
Journey
Judas Priest
Kiss
Led Zeppelin
Meatloaf
Megadeth
Metallica
Motley Crue
Motorhead
Nine Inch Nails
Nirvana
Ozzy Osbourne
Pearl Jam
Quiet Riot
Rainbow
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Poison
Rage Against the Machine
Sex Pistols
Sisters of Mercy
Skid Row
Slayer
Soundgarden
Steppenwolf
The Cult
The Doors
The Scorpions
Thin Lizzy
Thunder
Twisted Sister
Van Halen
W.A.S.P.
....to name but a few of the "classic" Rock bands. Newer stuff you need to go for:
Airbourne
30 Seconds to Mars
Biffy Clyro
Billy Talent
Black Stone Cherry
Blink 182
Bullet For My Valentine
Disturbed
Dragonforce (anyone who plays Guitar hero loves these)
Drowning Pool
Elliot Minor
Evanescence
Fall Out Boy
Foo Fighters
Funeral for a Friend
Good Charlotte
HIM
Hoobastank
Kaiser Chiefs
Kid Rock
Kids in Glass Houses
Korn
Lacuna Coil
Limp Bizkit
Linkin Park
Lost Prophets
Madina Lake
Marilyn Manson
Muse
My Chemical Romance
Offspring
Paramore
Pendulum (Goes down well with the Rock crowd)
Puddle of Mudd
Rammstein
Queens of the Stone Age
Slipknot
Stoned Sour
Sum 41
System of a Down
Tenacious D
The Killers
Trivium
Velvet Revolver
You Me At Six
As I say it is an EXTREMELY wide ranging question you ask so expect wide-ranging answers. Each one of the classic bands has at least 3 or 4 top tracks you could play so listing them would take all week. If you pick out the groups that appeal to you I will reply with the tracks you can play.
