Guys
has anyone ever used a wireless speaker or speakers as additional sound ..
reason is I have chance to do a few gigs at a local golf club that is not designed for functions .. its just a long fairly narrow room and I wondered if a couple of wireless speakers were the answer as they dont really want me running cables all round the room..

thanks for any info..

I can't say that I have used 'wireless speakers' but if you are careful with your wires and tape them down well right against the wall, then it shouldn't be a big problem. It is possible to use a wireless microphone system plugged in back to front, i.e. the receiver is plugged into the speaker ( if it is an active speaker) and the trasmitter is plugged into the output of your mixer. If you have passive speakers then this would be more of a problem as the amp would have to be next to the speakers, which would not be ideal, as you cannot control it easily and even worse some punter might try it on and turn up the volume! scared.gif

An inexpensive video sender should do the trick! Not a dirt cheap system of course.

I would strongly recommend against the use of domestic video senders.

They have major problems with sharing the airwaves. They pick up interference from Radio Mic's, WIFI networks & Devices (e.g. iPhones, laptops with wifi on etc...) and sometimes even mobile phones.

Having used a set to transmit video wirelessly to a VCR and finding the sound recorded from the camera completely unusable (think whining & bleeping noises) I would avoid them at all costs.

just my 2p worth.

The new breed of 5.8ghz senders overcome the shortcomings as mentioned above, they are well above the frequencies used by wi-fi and even immune from commercial microwave ovens. Currently they are few and far between, and their slightly higher price tags mean that they are less likely to appeal to consumers as opposed to conventional cheap and cheerful 2.4ghz systems = less clutter and risk of interference,at least for the near future.

The range is also better, as does the sound quality, and yes I use them myself so I am speaking from experience. biggrin.gif

Maplin and CPC both sell them for about £59 for a kit

Don't like Control 1 s.

4" bass driver...easily overpowered by a crowd just talking.

Can't realistically see the point of this system.

Maybe an idea of the OP's budget might be handy??
