Okay first of all a few pointers, for what do look like very nice cabs thumbup.gif

First of all, there is the absence of RMS, Peak, Maximum wording after the power output specs, you would assume that they are RMS Continuous ratings, but how can you be sure??, you may find that "400" is actually PMPO or PEAK and in practical terms you may only be getting a speaker rated at 175W Long term! The Satellite figure of 150W could be even worse, this may only be 90W RMS handling, and the fact that they use 10" drivers could confirm this.

Amp specs taken from site:-

QUOTE
Subwoofer Power Output:
10” Two-way Power Output:

Subwoofer:- 400 W / 8 Ohms @ 1% THD
Satellite:- 150 W / 4 Ohms @ 1% THD

On the Amp specs 1% THD is quite a high level of distortion figure (THD = Total Harmonic Distortion). On a good quality amp, that figure is around 0.5% or even as low as 0.05% of more expensive amps.

This spec on the subwoofer made me shiver:-

QUOTE
127 dB @10% THD

10% distortion is a very high figure and I wouldn't wish it on any audience. Sounds like (pardon the pun) that the manufacturers are quoting worst case figures to boost their power ratings........ again.

Interesting to see that they have no distributors in the UK!

thanks Chris.

Is there anything in the UK with a similar setup. I am running some JBL Eons with a pair of 15" black widow peavy subs and the sound is nice but a bit too much humping around for some of my smaller venues.

Hi,

Depends on how you would term a smaller venue. To some on here that would be a venue of 40 or 50 people, to others that would be 200 - 300 533.gif . I am guessing that you are just looking for something that would cover a pub gig, or a kids party or function in a village hall?.

You may find that a single pair of active full range speakers would be all that you need. Subs, powered or otherwise, don't reach their full potential in small rooms.

I'll look around and see what I can find smile.gif

have a look on the HK Audio site.HK Audio

HK Audio have had some very good reviews of their stuff they make.

I have 2 x HK Lucas 1000 rigs.
They can be used independantly or as a massive 2K rig.
They are small, very portable and the sound quality is outstanding.
I use them for discos, Karaoke, and live bands.
OK so the SSP is around 1500 quid, but believe me they are worth the investment.

Hi

When I was looking at a new set up and specifically looking at active systems...I looked at the LUCAS 1000, which sounded outstanding in the showroom. However, I'd heard a couple of people mention that in larger rooms, we're talking hotels with up to 200 guests, here, they struggled a little to kick out the power.

Showrooms are all well and good, but...

The LUCAS did sound amazing though, stunning base.
