Hey Guys

Well I have some basic headphones at the moment.. I have numerous earphones and 2 pairs of headphones...
Sony MDR-P180
Sennheiser HD457
These may be ok for basic DJ'ing purposes , but in a club environment I'd really need a closed backed pair to help me monitor accurately. The HD457 pair I have is open back and the MDR-P180 doesn't have the best sound quality.
Any suggestions on a good pair of DJ headphones? And why

? I like having something a bit different.
SO 'What' pair of headphones do you use to DJ?
What would you recommend to me?

Hi we have had this subject up before if i remember rightly but i use Sony-v700dj and they last me about a year! I find them comfortable and the sound is good as well as offering a bit of protection, find they are good for mixing "in" if the club has bad monitor system.Only drawback i have found is that the swivel joints split after about a year of hard use(usualy about 10 mins after the guarantee expires!!!!!)

I use the sony 700's aswell. My first pair lasted me about 3 years. The swivel bits do crack after a while but it is easily fixable by tightly wrapping a bit of nylon thread around it with a dab of superglue. It added about 1.5 extra life to mine.
I would reccomend them to anyone.

For a club environment youll never need great sound quality, simply good ambient noise suppression and high sensitivity...the higher a pair of headphones sensitivity, the louder the signal from the mixer will sound.
If your mixer has a very loud headphone output, you wont need expencive, high sensitivity headphones

Howdy
I use Ministry of Sound Headset...the dogs
The do an damn fine job of blocking as much outside noise as you need. If you need to hear more of what's going on outside, just adjust them set on your ears.
Very loud, lovely base response, just an all round excellent buh at around £70.

Any ideas who makes those Ministry of sound headphones? obviously, theyre "re~badged" goods from another manufacturer, all the MOS hardware is.
its just that if the "MOS" brand are £70, the nonMOS brand are likely to be £x (or £xx) cheaper.
Out of the usual choice of so~called "DJ" headphones (eg..£50 added to the real price), Im with the Senheiser HD25, which Ive used for the last couple of PLASAs. Background/ambient sound elimination is good, sound sensitivity is great, and theyre comfortable. I found the Sony 700s to dig in to my scalp a bit after even a few mins, as if the joing wire between the left & right cups ran across the "head side" (rather than the outside" of the headband.

Ive wondered who manufactures the MOS headphones (along with the personal cd players, mini systems, etc ...anything else that can possibly be branded MOS. I'm still saving up for the MOS violin expected to hit the market shortly
Ive used the HD25 sp's for around three years now...have recently replaced the connecting wires but the actual headphones are fine showing little signs of wear. Only thing Ive found with them is that there is a wire to each earphone from the main lead rather than being built into the headband which tend to get totally twisted round each other.
If i was to buy another pair of headphones now I would choose the HD25s

I think the MOS headphones are made by IXOS who also produce high end hi-fi connectors and stuff.......
