Do you still use a rope light in your disco set up? Maybe you use one for retro theme nights?
When was the first time you used one - and can you remember the last time it was used at a gig?

i will admit i used them from about 95 until about 99! thinking about it they were that naff they were good!lol
i have a fixed pattern set that were white and a multi coloured flashing set!

I use them to illuminate behind my sign box

I use static and chasing duralight strips for background lighting and marquees etc. A bit more modern than conventional ropelights and also much brighter.

I've got loads of boxes of brand new ones making a noise like a bird.

very good for kids parties to wrap around the goalpost (provides light for me to work by and also looks pretty for the kids)
i find light is at a premium at most village halls where i do kids parties as they tend to have one switch for all the hall lighting, all or nothing!

My last one went wrong about 2 years ago.

Think are are quite good for wrapping round the base of speaker stands, so that no one trips over the stand.

Might buy another pair. They are cheap and easy to transport.

I used to use duralight too. No longer.

First one I bought was a PLUTO brand in 1980. With chaser...£75. Milky white tube.

I used to use one back in the 80's on a board I made for the front of my disco the N of Niks and the R of roadshow were ropelight and the rest of the letters were created from UV colour tubing... I thought it was amazing but as with most things the passage of time has made it very naff lol

Used a red one to decorate my makeshift 'booth' in a residency over Xmas, I thought it looked well, but then I am naff.
