first of all dont show any fear.........
also if you play games and silly dances dont forget to invovle the adults too. if they feel entertained they rebook you..
kazzachi will be the best one to help you on this subject, so i'll leave it to the forum expert...............

Why thank you tonyj!
This party should be really easy! I hope you arent doing any longer than two hours though, cos this is about the bordom threshold for kids!. Firstly, it is really important that you get the kids to respond to you... it makes them feel less self concious about themselves... a good way of doing this is to introduce yourself and then ask firstly for all the boys to shout their names as loud as they can, and then the girls.... have a bit of a chat with them to begin with and lay down some safety rules.
I would tend to play mostly "action songs" for this age group... music/mimic man, macarena, reach, follow the leader, the finger song, etc etc. Also, dont run tunes back to back.. try to have a talkie bit in between each song. I never stand behind my decks when Im working with kids... stay out front with them and if you are up to it, dance.... they will copy whatever you do! Also remember lots of eye contact with the kids and smile all the time! If there is a child who stands on the side lines... dont force them to get up and dance... one really good way to get them to respond is to keep giving them eye contact and smiling at them, after a while, if you hold out your hand, then the child will get up and come to you!
There are loads of other things on the forum about kids parties... have a search but if you need any other advise just ask!
A big NO-No is Dont play anything that is stickered "parental advisory"!

The only thing I can add to Kazz's advice is if you don't know the dances then get one of the children to the front to lead the rest and then another for the next song - it makes them feel more involved and it doesn't matter if they don't know all the moves just tell them to make them up and everyone else will follow......

..... good idea for the older kids - but when they are this young (4-7) they dont always have the confidence to get up front.... if you do it then it wont matter what you do - as long as you keep moving - they will copy you!

With me - That would mean around 50 kids all sat in the Dog and Duck with a Pint
