The whole audience was up dancing and going mad from the first song right throught to the last in the encore
The support act was Aswad who have done some great tunes, especially in the early 80's such as Warrior Charge, Roots Rockin, Back to Africa & Promised Land. Unfortunately last night though they had to be very commercial in order to appeal to the Madness audience and also the sound for them was crap.
On a completely different note. Last saturday I had a big knees-up for my birthday. I had the entire use of a club that I dj at sometimes. A good mate of mine from school was DJ'ing the party and he played some excellent tunes from what I can remember and from what everyone tells me, however I seemed to spend most of the night welcoming people, engrossed in conversation or saying goodbye to people and didn't make it to the dancefloor area at all.
Reflecting on this it's made me realise that often the host doesn't really hear what you're playing and that many times we're actually playing just to the guests!
I'd asked my mate to try to fit a couple of my fave tunes in at sometime during the night and to be honest I have no idea of whether he did or not and it makes no difference as even if he had I never made it to the dancefloor area anyway.
I've done plenty of functions where i haven't been able to fit in some of the music requests from the host(s) and yet they've been delighted at the end of the night. After my experience from saturday I now realise it's probably like me that they were happy that all the guests had a great time cos of the music the dj played even though they themselves didn't really get to hear much of it
Any of you had similar experiences?
....PS. I noticed that my avatar has suddenly become very festive; now after I figure how to get that bleedin tree through the door I just need to sort out some lights
