Run it out of the booth, or Aux Out, or one of the sub groups, depends on the mixer etc

For DJ monitoring the booth output is usually fine as it usually doesn't include the mic input do you don't get feedback when you use the mic.
For stage monitoring you usually want to include the vocals. If the mixer doesn't have a monitor out put use the main output and split it to a separate amp and GEQ as the monitors will be facing the artists and the GEQ helps to prevent feedback.
What you get depends on how much you want to invest and what you are going to use them for. Wedge monitors range in price from around £70 for a Soundlab one to £700 for a HK one for example.
Cheap ones will be okay for say Karaoke but for bands, tribute acts etc it would be worth investing a bit more.
