what equipment, whats a
fader,
mixer,
headshell,
cart,
belt/direct,
pitch etc etc
can i connect it through my stereo instead of buying speakers
HELP!! therefore i thought maybe someone could help me.

i want to buy as cheap as i can as just to practice at home pref with direct as told these are better, but max of £250 to spend then upgrade at a later stage.

Part of the time you spend here could be spent READING THE RULES. Pretty soon you may realise that posting in anger or with an attitude which is likely to alienate and annoy the very people that you are asking for help, isn't going to get you any help at all. - ADMIN

hi there ..... if you look at the pinned topics at the top of this section you will see another topic entitled starting out. which has 23 replys which cover most aspects of whats required. huh.gif

but if you have any specific queries then most of the regulars on the board will be happy to help. enjoy these forums and if you dont get a reply straight away, just wait. help is on the way.............. we are now in silly season were most of us are working flat out until the end of the year so we dont have the time for surfing. if fact some dont have time to sleep lol tongue.gif

newyear.gif tis the season to go aaaarrrrrgggg
kazzachi
.....How to go about making new friends eh!

If you take the time to read the forum then undoubtedly you will find all the information you are after..... and as quite rightly was pointed out, it is december and most of us are working our socks off so it is not always possible to reply straight away.... but I believe that you had several welcome messages.

Also, please do not give links to other disco suppliers - perhaps you could take a few minutes to read the rules.

Of course one sure fire way is to get your post noticed is to use references to other suppliers in your post. I don't know how many times I have to say this but..................

READ THE RULES!!!!!!!

The next member to do this, Doesn't post again!!!, i'm sick and fed up of my business paying hosting fees for this forum , only for newbies who are to lazy to read the rules, publically advertising competitors at my expense!!!!!!!!!. It Stops NOW!.

BTW:- I am a distributor of Sound & Lighting equipment, it's this business that funds the very forum that you are happily complaining on - my email address is clearly shown below. As you can see from the time stamp of this post I am often around on the forum until VERY Late, I also have a very fast response time to emails- did you bother to contact me, directly, for advice or for a quote????.

We are not a telephone advisory centre charging you £1.00 a minute for support, nor here to cater personally to the Whim of every single person who visits . Each member on this forum gives his / her spare time to help and advise other Wannabe D.J's for FREE - please respect this, it is THEIR choice and so far they do a Damn good job.

If you had bothered to take the time to look around, you will see other "Newbies" posts answered quickly and often in Depth. However it is a busy forum and sometimes posts go overlooked - just like you overlooked reading the rules, but more often than not your question has already been answered several times before within the 20,000+ Posts already here - your own question is not unique and there is a useful feature called "SEARCH" - and it really does work.

If after all, this forum isn't what you expected, and if you want your questions answered in nano-seconds then there is a big wide WWW out there!.

please email me with comments so i can start my quest.

Again, we don't actively email individual support questions. The forum is part of a Community, and for every piece of advice given there is usually the potential for the same question to be asked again and again in the future - hence why all Q & A's are prefered to be carried out in the form of posting!.
kazzachi
..what is ejaying anyway? If it is remotely linked to djing surely you would have come across the terms that you state you dont know about!
partychris
kazza, ejay is a budget p.c. based music package, ideal for starting mixing at home. 042.gif
C.S
Cor i am looking forward to give you advice but please learn a little patience and politeness, most of us are adult working djs and time is precious at this time of the year.I saw your questions early but decided not to answer as all answers are already on the forum. Now lets start again with a clean sheet?
kazzachi
Oh! Thanks for that partychris.... which means that he must know what a mixer or fader etc is because even with pc djing you have to do these things do you?!
partychris
emm not with that package its more of a drag a drop sample program ! unlike PCDJ and all the others that are mentioned on this forum

Hmmm pity I missed all this, I could have jumped in too 014.gif

FIRSTLY I WANT TO APOLOGISE TO ALL I OFFENDED WITH MY COMMENTS ABOUT COMPETITORS AND THE RULES, NOT MENT. I AM NEW TO ALL THIS AND DIDNT REALISE ALL U "ADULT" WERE OUT WORKING, HOWEVER, THE ADULT COMMENT I FOUND A LITTLE PATRONISING AS I AM 26, BUT HEY ITS XMAS AND NOT INTO STARTING OFF ON THE WRONG FOOT SO HEY ALL HAVE A beer.gif ON ME.

THE STANTON STR830 ARE DIRECT, AND I HAVE LOOKED AT CHRIS'S SITE AND FOUND TI VERY GOOD TOO, BUT WASNT SURE IF U TOOK SOLO SO THATS WHY I LOOKED AT COMPETITORS, BUT CHRIS IF U WANNA HELP ME WITH A DEAL FEEL FREE.

REGARDS X toot.gif

well thats nice,im new to the forum myself but i think showing a little patience is not too much to ask.the guys and girls have been nothing but helpful to me and although i have had my own mobile for a while, you will find as i have that if you read the posts you can get loads of great advice.

just hope that the advise keeps comming because i for one am very grateful.

thanks guys
kazzachi
and you are very welcome wolffman!
wolfmann
thanks kazz im sure im not alone in my view, its just a few bad apples that spoil it for the rest of us. wallbash.gif

Spot on Wolfie! We try to keep the forum a happy place - and dont forget, you can always use the "report this post" button if us mods dont get to anything first!

Apologies to Krest if he thought anyone was being patronising, - you did put in your original profile that you were under 16! However, at least you have learned one thing - December is - not surprisingly - probably the busiest month for dj-ing! I gotta say that you are looking good for 26 too! As you want to start off again with a clean slate, why dont you tell us a bit more about yourself, where you work, what you do and what has made you decide to start dj-ing. Its always good to hear about our new members.
C.S
Hi Krest me again! I also saw your profile and it said under 16,wish i was 26! Check out the interview pages to learn a bit about us. As you know we are all busy working at the moment, and a little tip to you is that if you split up the posts a bit and just ask a couple of questions at a time then its a bit easier for us .Sometimes i click into the forum for 10 minutes and answer if i can.I saw your first post the first day and thought that i didnt have time to answer all the questions then and would do it later, unfortunately it didnt happen. Now looking forward, what kind of dj are you hoping to be? Where are you in the UK and have you any experience of djing at home or in a club or party? I will be online again in the morning if you have any more questions that you need quick answers. 042.gifp
krest69
hi guys

i have requested more info on some direct drive stanton str8 30's with a numark 950 mixer complete with cables mats etc. and well hope to get going soon, god knows where i will put em as small flat. i was contemplkating getting just some gemini belt drives just to start and practise in case i lose interest as these with a numark 950 and cables etc new are only £145 where as the stantons are £290. cant decide. want to get a car and pass my test too but hey cant decide and scared of cars.

so who said i dont look 26 then, who os flirting with me already!!!!! biggrin.gif
C.S
I think its a good idea for you to start off with some cheaper or second hand equipment, especialy as you are still not sure whether djing is the thing for you.Chris P will be able to advise you on the gear and perhaps find a good deal for you. Driving ? I dont know where you live but i am in Norway and driving is slippery! I think its a bit hard to see from your picture how old you are but i definately wasnt flirting! biggrin.gif
