Hi people. Looking for some advice. I have a Maxdata laptop and the company is now in administration therefore I can't ask their technical support, so I'm using the next best thing. I have everything connected but in display properties I can't select the 2nd monitor and thereby send an additional signal through s-video. I've checked the device manager and the only thing with a ? beside it is 'base system device' under Other Devices, but I can't find or update any drivers for it as I don't really know what it is. I'm using XP and I've gone through everything that I can think of with no joy so..........................???

a little confused, i am assuming you are going to settings on the control panel then display, and seeing the settings tab

is there a picture of 2 monitors or just 1?
are the options for a 2nd monitor
if there is 2 check boxes....1 for using monitor 1 as the primary display
and the 2nd to extend windows desktop onto a sencond monitor

the sencond box is the one to be ticked if not , it wont matter if the outlet is working or not, as it wont be recognized

sorry if this teaching you to suck eggs or is the not correct technological geek speak

but you can let me know if it helps
Dream Catchers
Have you got the original CD for the laptop?
If you have you should be able to install (or update) the driver from there.

If you haven't got the CD then you need to find out what the video controller is.

I'm sure somebody will jump in and point you to a utility that will identify it for you.
Also the laptop will quite likely be the same as a few other badges, so if you can identify the other clones you may be able to download drivers from their sites.

There are two monitors and I've ticked the two boxes to use a second monitor and to extend the desktop but when I click apply nothing happens and the two boxes become unchecked>

Don't have the CD so I'd be grateful for advice on how to identify my video controller and my laptop is a Maxdate Imperio 4000A if anyone can advice on alternatives
Dukesy
Is that the MAXDATA IMPERIO 4000 A - Mobile Sempron 2600+ 1.6 GHz - 15" TFT?
If so, not sure if this will help.

supersound dj
is the 2nd monitor connected so it can reconise it?
