If i have a folder with a mixture of 128, 192 and the majority 320kbps tracks -
If i was to normalise them (via Shampoo or another similar product) would the 320kb tracks be toned down to the same sound volume/quality as the 128's or vice versa ? Or do they meet half way?
The point is i do not want to loose the higher volume/qualiuty on the 320 tracks in order to match the lower quality tracks.
Any ideas?
Most good normalisation programs will simply decode->analyse the track, and write a suitable gain level into the header of the MP3 file, without re-encoding the audio section. Your 128Kbps MP3 will remain the same quality, as will the 320Kbps MP3.
The actual gain level is decided by the software, (not familar with Shampoo)
I use mp3gain;
http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/(free, and was recommended on here numerous times)
This allows each track to have its own gain (determined by analysis), or an album to have the same level. I normally chose track gain.
I hope this helps,
Jason
