I need a bit of help with this one, I've taken on this a job as a favor to a landlord who's having a thin time at the moment, I'm hoping to drive a bit of trade his way. The gigs on Saturday evening. the venue's a smallish pub just off town center, mostly a youngish 18 - 35 old crowd, who usually call in early evening on the way down town and then tend to return later in the evening around 10 to 10-30'ish, definitely 'blue collar' not the sophisticated type. It's not the sort of gig I usually do, so any suggestions are welcome.

Seems to be a bit of an 80s revival going on at the mo, so a good dollop of 80s new romantic and classic pop should do the trick from 9.30pm, plus there's some great 80s rock you could add for good measure. From 10.30, why not throw some old skool dance, 90s indie and top dance anthems, plus the odd 70s and 80s classic right through to the end of the night with a Saturday Night Fever finish! smile.gif

Plenty of modern chart r&b/dance then some old skool late 80's/90's dance later on in the evening.
The younger people round our way tend to go down town in search of this sort of stuff.
You need to try n keep them in there for as long as possible, this can be done with the right music. thumbup.gif

Care to name a few tracks? It's a genere I know little about, it seems to mean different things to different people.

OK - here's a selection sent over by my nephew. The one's in bold are tracks I'd feel happy to play at a gig as these are likely to be more 'known'.
There's still a lot of tracks not listed here which would probably go down well.
I'd suggest look up some '89 classics right through to around '94/'95 which will cover the 'known/popular' early rave and of course commercial track releases.

Thanks, I'll certainly try some of those, I've not played anything by the Shamen for ages, there's some good stuff in the list I'd forgot about.

charts r&b and Commercial dance always good with a little old skool threw in somewhere late on , altho thats pretty much my idea for everything lol

but you may find no matter how good your music is or great unique mixing i find most young people are pub crawlers and are hard to keep and are in search of somewhere with plenty of available members of the opposite sex !!!

Na na de da da da............

If the land lord is struggling I would suggest do something different to attract a crowd. With those suggestions above it reads like your playing to the crowd which is already there!.
