Just out of interest ...........
How many mp3's/cd's do you take to a gig ?
Andy Westcott
About 5000 for me, and many of those would never get a play.
C.S
depends on the gig. about 700 cds for a club gig and about 2\3 thousand for a wedding\mobile.
bluejools
about 1200 cd's

Not too sure on actual no of cd's I take but trackwise it's just over 15,000 - well excessive but contained in 2 cd flightcases so doesn't take up too much room.

I've seen DJ's turn up with suitcases full of Cd's to gigs, it begs the question why? I rarely take more than a large briefcase sized case of Cd's to gigs, you just don't need to, on an average gig you play less than 100 tracks ie 7 Cd's worth. If I'm doing a Soul/Motown night I don't take rock, pop, party, dance, trance, disco, 60's, 70's, 80's or any other genre, because I'm not going to play it, so why carry it, my kit's already heavy enough. If I'm doing a wedding or a 40 th birthday party, I take a much wider selection of tracks because you never know what will be requested, although saying that, I don't have a problem telling someone I don't have the obscure, floor clearing track they want playing. I have recently purchased a HD2500 so my Cd case will soon be left at home, I can't wait.

one and a half trillion, give or take two or three.

It doesn't matter HOW many, just WHAT you take.

About 25k...but then I can fit them all in my pocket!!!!! (Sort of)

And I'm always covered...coz apart from adding speciality folders when needed.....I've got all I need for all occasions!

I bring 3 cd cases to my gigs..So varying case sizes i would say around 900 cds.

The reason I asked was I thought 3 cd cases (1 albums and 2 singles) plus a half full 400gig hdd was a bit over the top.
I dont do "Specialised" nights mainly pub wedding and b/days so need wiiiiide variety.
Dont think Ive been stumped by a request yet
