Hello.

Just wondering if anyone can suggest any decent breakbeat records.

I'm trying to put a decent breaks set together but so far have got only three tunes sad.gif

They are:

1. Pop Levi - Dita Dimoné (Pink Enemy mix)
2. Work On You (Para One Remix) - MSTRKRFT
3. and a Utah Saints - Something Good Remix - We all know what this sounds like right?

anyone?

Check out the catalogue of Distinct'ive Records - look up their website

Also anything by or in collaboration with:

Rennie Pilgrem
Hybrid (early stuff)
Ils
General Midi
Lee Coombs
Meat Katie

Also listen to Annie Nightingale's radio show (if she's still going, I'd imagine so!) because she is a big time champion of the breaks scene... a great inspiration in this area.

ooooh!!! I love breakbeat - thats what I DJ.... Here's some of my fav's....

Plump DJ's - Bullet Train

Elite Force - Return2Mindfunk (Vandal Remix)

Green Velvet vs Justice - Waters over la la land (Vandals bootleg breaks remix)

The Breakfastaz - Shady Breaks

Soul of Man - Foxy Moron

Beat Assasins - Generation MTV (Plaza de funk mix)

Drumatic Twins - Twister

B Phreak - Funkbox (Hexadecimal remix)

Mars & The Phat Riderz - Communistic Funky Beat (4kuba remix)

This is one of my favourite tunes to drop with RAGE killing in the name of bit in the middle, amazing to drop to a dancefloor (very hard to find).....
Geek Ghastly - Against the Terror

...There are obviously loads more tunes, but if you want more specific breakbeat styles just ask!

Cheers lads I will certainly look into them tunes.

I'm hoping to get the rest of my set on vinyl cause I really dont like using cd-decks (yeah yeah future and all that, I love vinyl and theres no converting me) So it'll take some time, but I've got a set booked for a NYE party and I want to blow people away with a breakbeat set that'll get everyone on their feet.

I usually play some sort of clubby/electro house but am now moving over to break beat as my other friends have every genre convered except BB.

I can't source some tunes on vinyl as they arent available, but i'm trying damm hard to get some together before my set...

Cheers for the advice..... I'll hollar back when I've had time to research and buy some stuff.

I got about 50 breaks vinyl, yours for the right price, I've gone to using Serato ScratchLive so don't really use the vinyl anymore!
