At the back of my mixer are the usual Microphone inputs (xlr input and aux input) -
There is also an "Effect loop" port which a (1/4") jack can fit into.

I would presume it is there to connect to an external Effect unit for Microphone effects ?

But with only the one port how can it send and return ?

I have an effects unit which has 2x inputs and 2x outputs (1 of each xlr and 1/4 jack) - IS there anyway i can connect to it via the effect loop port on my mixer?

My Mics currently connect directly into the effects box and then out into my Mixer - which is fine, but if i could take advantage of the Effect Loop on the mixer i would.

The mixer is a Denon DN-X900

Cheers

Hi Steve,
a quick check of the manual;
http://www.denondj.com/admin/assetmanager/...wners%20Manuals
Page 9 shows the Mic effect bus being a stereo 1/4" jack. ie, send and return on the same connector, with shared gnd.

Not sure what effects units you have, but you'll probably need a 1/4" stereo to 2 x RCA for most units.

I think that's an insert lead isn't it? In which case I think you'll need 1 x TRS 1/4" (stereo) jack to 2 x 1/4" TS (mono) jacks. one is send and the other is return.

I agree with David. Mark one as send (input to the FX unit) and one return (output of FX unit). Will only work one way round, but should not cause any damage if you mix them up.

Yep here's another one who agrees, fairly routine stuff, this!! ;-)
