Hey Hi everyone,

I do Know I am a beginner and have done only a few shows but when I or for that matter any Local DJ in my city Plays, I have seen that all the Equipments used are CD changers, Mixers, Remotes, good Amplifiers and speakers. Most of the Equipment is Denon or Studio Master. I have till date not seen scratchdisks. I would Like to understand the concept of scratch disks and as to why and How they are used!! Also If someone has any photos of using scratchdisks, I would Like to see them. Please do send them to me, or post them on the forum from where we can see them.

I also want to understand the various types of Equipment with their names, properties and details! Where do I get that kind of Information?????

When you say "scratchdisks" do you mean the records/CD's which are filled with scratch samples? EG: Breakbeat albums?

I think he means cd players you can scratch with.

He could be meaning.... how you can emulate vinyl on a normal turntable with the music on the laptop, making it easier to mix your mp3s/sound files if you don't have a CDJ or prefer vinyl. This is done through a time coded vinyl disc. They're used with Final Scratch and a couple of other similar programs.

With Battle records they contain lots of samples with blank space inbetween them, DJ's use these for the sounds that they can produce with them and usually put them over another beat/song.

Hope that helps
