Blurb From the Pioneer web site:
Designed for DJs by DJs and drawing inspiration from our industry standard CDJ-1000 series, the CDJ-400 is a flexible, affordable performance player for the aspiring club DJ to use at home.

The CDJ-400 allows you to play your MP3 collection off CD-R/RW discs as well as music from mass storage USB devices, such as USB keys, external hard drives and portable media devices.

The deck also features the world’s first Scratch Jog Effects , with three creative scratch effects and an amazing new Loop Divide function.

Virtually all of the button and slider functions can send MIDI data via USB output, making it possible for the decks to control external DJ software such as our DJS, an MP3 mixing software that emulates a full Pioneer DJ setup on your PC. It includes 8 innovative effects, a waveform display with cue / looping ability and can convert CD / line input signals to MP3 within an easy to manage music library.

Other third party applications will also be supported such as Serato Scratch LIVE on a PC or MAC.

The CDJ-400 deck is a perfect partner for the DJM-400 mixer and together they provide the ultimate home party set-up.

The CDJ-400 looks like a nice bit of kit - very modern looking compared with the CDJ-800. I see this retails for only a bit more so is that the end for the 800 model do you think?

The Denon DNS-1200's look good as well and they are around £100 cheaper than this. Worth the extra?
Dukesy
I don't know about Pioneer's plans for the 800 but the 400 appears popular for it's features and quality.
You'll find reviews and comments about kit, good and bad no doubt, so I'd suggest always try before you buy anything.

Sorry, I got that wrong, the CDJ800 is about £70 more.

The top pic is of a set of CDJ200's by the way. They look good but have no USB slot so I think the similarly priced DNS1200's beat them on features.

I have the djm400 mixer and it is excellent. I mix hardcore & drum & bass & this mixer is perfect with it's smooth fader and excellent eq's. The digital sound is also first class and the effects can work wonders in the mix when used right.

For a bedroom set up this is perfect. I only mix vinyl so i can't comment on the cdj's, though they do look awesome and i would definately consider them if ever mix cd's in the future.

CDJ800 doesn't have effects like the 400, but unlike the 400, the 800 does full vinyl emulation for full scratch control, the 400 doesn't, it just has 4 strange scratch effects.

So in a word, the 400 won't be replacing the 800 anytime soon, the 800 is the 1000's little sister.

Also, the top pic is a CDJ400!
