I went to see Level 42 in Torquay (400 club) before they became famous. WoooHooo!!! Only about 200 or so people there. A lot more the year after when I saw them in Cornwall...
Starchild was always my favourite from back then.
As for Love Games, the version from their remix album is better than the single, and only subtly different. An improvement without losing the original character of the song.

Bit of a coincidence this! Maybe I heard it on the radio recently and decided to pull out the Running In The Family album for that reason.
Anyway, it's the 'Platinum edition' which means that the version of Lessons In Love is the Shep Pettibone mix which is a bit bassier, extra handclaps etc and trademark stuttered samples in places. Sounds good though, and was worth digging out.
Incidentally, if Level 42 is your bag, their album World Machine is a total corker - perhaps one of my favourite albums of all time. Production (by Wally Badarou IIRC) is sparkling and sounds totally cracking on a decent HiFi.

I'll echo the comments about the quality of the production - these tracks were recorded back when audio quality actually meant something, and true hi-fi ruled.
