I bought two impossileds, an incrediled and a Carbon.

I'm bored with them already.....which is a shame. I initially thought they were brilliant, but after using them for a while now, I am not so sure. Can't actually put my finger on why, I think it's a bit of a combination between the brightness level in large venues and the inflexability of the inbuilt programmes.

I do not wish to go down the DMX controller route and do link the impossileds in master and slave mode and use a CA8 to control them. I find all of them useless for the smoochies as they are too fast. So I carry a couple of water effects for them.

Anyone else have any views one way or the other..........?? sadwalk.gif

Yes I know what you mean there all pretty much the same display wise.. I think once they work out how to create a single beam of bright light such as a pinspot then we will move forward. Its early days for LED technologie i guess still....

Just out of interest Kingy you being a techie bloke how many imposibleds could you link together on one 13 amp feed.

It's easy to get bored with your lighting. Don't forget that you see them frequently whereas your various audiences may well be seeing them for the first time.

Stick to the good old fashioned data moon (light of the year 1997)

Not too sure, from memory I think they draw less than 50 watts when all the LEDs are lit, so you COULD potentially run quite a few!!

I run 12 LED par cans very easily from a 13amp wall socket!! They draw 30 watts each on full brightness. That gives you a total of 360 watts (or just over an amp!!)

It is easy to get bored. I have a couple of EFX500's, got bored and went with Acme Dynamos for a bit, back to EFX500's now. I have an Impossibled already, but if you want to offload one at the right price I will take it off your hands, as I like to experiment, and like to run things in twos.

I thought impossileds looked pretty good on the wmv shots. Oh ! Thats shot my plans down, lots of effects look great on the screen shot in a pitch black room, but how often do you get that, rare !
I've not found an LED effect that impresses me when i actually use it.
I got a couple of "ADJ revo-3's", from ebay a couple of weeks ago an they looked awesome on youtube but were very repetitive in the venue. signdammit.gif
The duty cycle seemed to be well under a minute, and oddly when dmx't they didnt match each other, they mirrored instead which is ok if on is upside down and mounted above and belowe your bars/ rack. 9.gif

Spinners right LEDs have got a lot of catching up to do, that said LED Tangos/ Duals look ok and fill abig space with wide angles at low watts. So they dont take away from the big effect too much. thanks.gif

I think that is why everyone and his dog demonstrates LED effects in a dark room, add the bar lights, the emergency exits and the lack of smoke and I'm afraid your not left with very much.

Now when they start using the 10mm LEDs in effects....

Its only going to improve. I am waiting for the ADJ X-scan which uses 20w worth of LEDs through colours and rotating gobos. I really hope they are good.

That said I like using my impossibled with a couple of Par Cans early on to catch a few early dancers, generally hitting them with the full compliment post buffet.

I think this is a key point.

For the average guest, they wont be counting pattern repeats, pre-programmed patterns, or the old "he'd got a bulb out" (not strictly applicable to LEDs of course).

With the odd exception, such as a custom gobo of the b&gs names etc, most guests would barely notice lighting as anything more consciously than "ambient" or "nice flashing lights". At worst, they might say "those annoying blinding spinning things" - something between those two extremes would be nice; achieved with a combination of either variety and/or control.

when i started out i had some vastos, which i have now moved up from.

However, apart from my lasers I have never had a single comment about my lights because 99 out of 100 punters dont care lol

Hence I am just replacing a couple of old scanners with led tango's for reliability and then I am NEVER buying any more lights biggrin.gif

Agreed. I've been playing about with DMX for the last 12 months. Certainly if you have the time you can do some great stuff, like someone requested that the lights were pink for her pink party (she was 13!) ... but mostly I use the controller to do change the mood of the lights. I do hate seeing fast flashing lights when the slow dances / first dances are on.

1. Start of evening / Buffet. LED Pars on slow colour chase.
2. Early Dancers. Add Impossibled DMX tells it Sound To Light, and LED Pars Fast chase
3. First Dance / End of night. Barrels on slow rotation
4. Party, Barrels on DMX tells it Sound To Light, Impossibled, and LED Pars Fast.
5. Announcements, Barrels on white static light to light the floor, PAR's on white light.

So 5 buttons gives me all the variety I need.
Stace
I've recently got rid of my impossibled.

It doesn't help that whilst the pattern does change the light is essentially static. The unit just projects different patterns, there isn't any movement as there is with the new Invincibled's, VUE IV or ADJ Mystic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQPnAREWogA.

Still happy with my Miracleds but only with fog. The patterns themselves are just as boring as the rest !!
