Hello!

Would you buy an active speaker that has no LED on it, to show peak/power/clipping?

Would you buy one that has no XLR inputs, only phono(RCA) + jac

This is the back of a Skytec 15" 400W rms speaker £130

I recognised that back panel and a reason I didn't get any was because of the lack of a balanced input. I have heard them and they don't sound too bad. As there is no balanced input, you would need to keep the phono leads as short as possible to prevent any interference affecting the sound. The ones I heard were being used with a two metre phono lead.

If I used a 10 meter phono lead how bad would it sound?

Is there a reason why the designers did not include a balanced input?! java script:emoticon(':lame:',%20'smid_45')

Is there anything similar to this product in the same price range?

This looks very similar to the XXL powered speakers sold by a Rochford-based dealer.

I had a pair of the 10" passive speakers in this range and, for the money, they weren't bad at all. Cabinet is a copy of the JBL EON.

Buying cheap cabs with only RCA inputs is false economy in my opinion.

A good budget active cabinet range - Fortissimo - is available from Studiospares. Not as cheap but balanced inputs and outputs with onboard EQ.

They have a good spec, are cheap but have no balanced input.

Can't i use a stereo/balanced jack lead to carry a balanced signal?!

If the input is unbalanced how will you feed in a balanced output?

Why did they make these speakers without a balanced input?!
