Doesn't surprise me at all.
What does surprise me is that anyone could be surprised by this.

Teenagers everywhere are throwing music at each other over instant messaging networks, and via mobile phones. I have told my kids not to accept any music files from their friends, as I don't want anyone knocking at my door. They disobey me on pain of a month's internet ban. (And I do keep an eye on their files - they accept they have no privacy in this respect.)

And 'they' thought illegal peer to peer downloads were the problem - I could have put them wise to this years ago.

The whole movenment is totally unstoppable. Despite this, the better quality tracks do sell, and pretty well. Time for the industry to accept the change and make the product more affordable and accessable.

Scenario: A student has an ipod and her/his best mate has Now 77 on cd. Will the one in question go and purchase now 77 or borrow the best mates cd to put on his/her ipod..

As Andy says, are they suprised and that naive by the survey?

Bit of a no brainer for a teenager.

Shall I get the music illegally with no comeback

or

Pay for it

And you never will stop them Andy, well you can stop your own kids.......but this will allways go on, so if I was you I would worry about more important things.

The chances of you getting that "knock on the door" are slimmer than slim........in fact buy a lottery ticket this week and next week, coz you have more chance of getting all 6 balls two weeks running than you have of getting "a knock on the door"..........the autorities just accept that its going on and theirs diddly squat they can or will do about it.

I got a letter from orange saying they had traced a file being illegally download on my connection using the Ares protocol. I discovered my 10 year old daughter had been given a link to a program over MSN and downloaded software and took the track. what i was amazed at was that she had downloaded lots of other tracks which i legally own downstairs but it was easier for her to just type in and a few seconds later hey presto they appeared on her PC i immediately deleted the software and deleted the tracks.

I do check my kids PC's regulaly for nasty things viruses etc but this program actually looked like windows media player at first glance and she had been using it for about 2 weeks it scanned all her music which i put on from the cd's we have then it just shared them in the background without me noticing!!!

The fact it is so easy that a ten year old can set these things up is scary

I now double check all the PC's in the house

Orange have never come back to me over the one track they found thank goodness

I'd change provider to one that's less efficient wasntme-sign.gif

your right it will be very hard to stop the movement. However it's not just teenagers doing it my mother did it. I would of thought she had more sense!
