Has anyone had to decline use of a venues power socket because it was dangerous / hanging off the wall, wires exposed, etc?

I remember one venue where the socket faceplates were cracked/bits missing. The staff were rude too ( to the guests particularly ).

I've since refused any enquiries for it.

I did one at David Lloyds in Bolton last year, I refused to plug in to a damaged socket so they ran an extension through a fire door from the corridor outside the room, they gaffa taped it all to the floor.
It broke H&S regs by having the door wedged open, but at least it was them breaking the rules not me.

I did a gig where there were 6 double sockets right where I set-up - brilliant :-)
Testing with my socket tester showed all where dead...

The venue manager had to gaffa tape an extension lead across the loo (around the frame) to get power to me...

I was really surprised - he said the sockets never worked - yet he has a regular DJ a few times each month!

I'd not be too worried about a few chips taken out of the wall socket, providing the face was intact and secure.

You would if they didn't work, which was the bit I left out from my post.

Venues should really have an NICEIC test certificate to stop this sort of thing happening.
