What do you use to clean your disco equipment with?

For flight cases and trim, I've always used a lightly-damp cloth or furniture polish (on trim). For mirrors and glass, lightly-damp cloth again, tissue or newspaper to dry with either domestic glass cleaner or vinegar and soft cloth for marked areas. Dusters tend to leave a deposit on glass / mirrors.
Sometimes I apply a little washing-up liquid directly on marks and scuffs which seems to do the trick, wiping away the excess with a clean dry cloth.

For CDs, damp cloth with either a little washing liquid to de-grease, or on the fly, a little furniture polish.
When wiping down the equipment, players, mixer, etc, I use a mixture of lightly-damp cloth, furniture cleaning tissue (pads) and cotton buds.
I was advised not to use furniture polish directly on disco equipment (plastics) years ago, although in the same breath, the anti-static brands of spray polish were considered 'ok'.
I never spray onto the equipment directly, instead, I always apply to a clean cloth first.

Please note, I never clean the equipment when plugged in or switched on although I have used a dry cloth to dust down equipment! Please take care if you intend to use a lightly damp cloth before equipment use, making sure you dry your cleaned areas before switching on!

just adding to this old thread

I clean my cables every week with a very mildly damp cloth, my wife says i am obsession-able but i do this for three reasons ,one it keeps them clean and looking nice .two it stops them from being smelly (used to be more of a problem before the smoking ban) and three it gives me a chance to inspect the cable itself and the connectors ,the amount of times i have noticed a little nick or a dodgy connector while cleaning may have stopped a show failure or potential damage to the equipment.

I use velcro ties for my cables so no sticky residues.

I have some wooden speakers covered in a sort of black plastic film they came up a treat with pound shop instant shine shoe polish !!

I quite like buying second hand old pub dj stuff and bringing it to life again with a bit of elbow grease..the hardest part is getting rid of the smell anyone ever used fabreeze on carpeted speakers?

Oh yes. Before the smoking ban. I've a pair of passive speakers, fuzzy cover, which picked up every smell. Febreezed them a few times.

I use a form cleaning solution.. Most DJ/musical stores sell it. I got mine from electrovision. Can`t remember the name. I`ll look when my gear comes out at the weekend.
