For the last 10 years I've been using flight cases with standard jewel boxes. Now space is a premium, and I'm going to move some of the less used material to CD wallets, 240 discs per.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the wallets. One thing came to mind was being able to quickly find a disc, and mis-filing would be hard to spot.

Any views?

I use both the fibre cases and wallets.

I tend to keep a particular type of cd in the wallets.
Currently my 2 wallets contain albums by artists or groups, not compilations.
Any 'recorded' cd's,

Disadvantage is that after a couple of years of using the wallets quite comprehensively, they are starting to look a little shabby, the connections between the cds are wearing and some pages are tearing.

If I had the option to start over again, I'd use the Case Logic pro sleeves which are the wallets on an individual basis, although you can fit 2 CD's in one wallet/sleeve. Slightly more expensive than the 240 cd wallets , about £12 per 100, but worth it in the long run.

Thanks! I'll try using them for individual artistes. rolleyes.gif

Ive used case logics for a few years now for the stuff I rarely play but seem to carry to every single gig! Most of the time the cases don't even get opened...

Wouldn't recommend using these for cd's you may use at nearly all gigs...even though they meant to be an ultra soft surface Ive got many cds that are becoming unplayable from the constant abrasion

Ive all but ditched jewel cases now apart from the floor fillers kind of cds I often use...have transfered all cd singles into plastic wallets (similar what many free magazine cds are in)

I think that most DJs use CD wallets that hold anything between 56 (there are smaller cases) and 400 CDs. I have only got a handful of jewel cases and even then, they are the slimline cases.

I have stopped using Case Logic cases as I am pretty peeved about their so-called lifetime warranty. I have had several cases whereby the zip has broke, the stitching has come apart and the centre bindings have failed.

When I first started using the cases I thought they were great and really helped cut-down the weight of my CDs. I bought the cases as they all had 'Lifetime Warranty' on them and thought that I would get a replacement should the cases fall apart. However, everytime I have sent an enquiry to Case Logic (International) I have not received a reply about the cases falling apart.

Having spoken to a rep about the cases, he said that the guarantee did not apply to the UK product and that it was only valid in the US.

Info taken from Case Logic US website:

Warranty Policy
Case Logic insists on outstanding quality. Every product is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the original purchaser. The warranty applies only when the products have been put to the use intended by Case Logic. If the defective product is no longer available, we will replace it with a similar product or one of equal value.

I have to add at this point that I treat my CDs like gold because they are extremely valuable to me and I wish to use them for many years to come. Therefore, I always take good care of the cases, I never chuck them about or manhandle them. However, Case Logic still put the 'Lifetime Warranty' on their products, yet I have not been able to claim under this warranty from the shop I bought them from or the company direct.

For this reason I have started to resort to no-name generic CD cases that hold 240 CDs for £4.49 and 400 capacity CD cases for £8.99. Even if a case only lasts me a year, at this price I can just transfer the pages of CDs to another case in minutes. I've even bought 500 CD wallets for CDs that I keep at home and don't usually take out with me unless a certain song is specifically asked for... all 500 for £6.49 - you simply can't go wrong.

I have to say that once over I would only buy Case Logic cases, but now this has all changed. I don't mind if the cases I use now feel and look a little cheaper than the Case Logic brands, but in many cases the felt that the CDs rest on looks identical to the higher priced wallets.

I've still got several Case Logic cases in use, but no-doubt, over time they will fall to bits, no matter how well I look after them.

Cheers,

I use the cheep flight cases from HMV they hold around 60 duel cd cases. BUT i have resently transfered all my cds into plastic wallets which i bought from a computer shop 100 for £4.99 i think it was. So i carry all my cds in two flight cases which maybeif i used duel cases would have gone up to 20 + flight cases.

Im getting fed up carrying so many flight cases for my cds but still cant get used to using wallets.... so I am gonna downsize and get all my "not so much used" cds into wallets and just take out when necessary - and hopefully get everything I need into about two flight cases..... which I will take into the venue but have the wallets in the motor as a just in case!

Thanks for all the advise.

I have eliminated a large CD flight case and package all my least used CD albums and single into 240 cd wallet.
