I'm sure there are those who use stock images for their website and do not take a camera.
Of course it's always polite to confirm with the client if you can take photos during a gig but thats another thread subject.
This is just a simple how many take a camera to a function.
NRG Roadshow
Im sure their are yea....but aint that like cheating or somthing LOL
gadget
I do, although sometimes I forget to take a picture at the right time (typical), so only end up getting rubbish pictures!

Always mean too, but it's the one thing I seem to forget and regularly to. Still I'd rather forget my camera than any other piece of equpment (that is unless I was a photographer rolleyes.gif )

I always have a camera with me, but like many others I am totally useless at capturing atmosphere, hence I use very few on my site.

Ahhh......I usually find the trick their is to use a digital camera and take hundreds of pictures at a function not just a few.......that way your more likely to capture at least a couple of photos that capture the moment well, some photos are good some photos not so good, but the more you take the higher the chances of getting a few really good photos.
KrazyKaz
I always take my camera and my mobile phone too.

llcooljoe

Also its polite to ask the DJ who you where 'helping' if you can take photos at his gig then rather passing them off as your own! nono.gif

I take a camera but seldom have the time to take photos, without being disrespectful how on earth do you find time to take pictures when you working? - The impression of a DJ introducing the first dance with mic in one hand and a camera in another is more cheesier then the macarena IMHO!

If you have someone else go out front and do it then thats better but your being paid to present music not go off taking pics for your scrapbook.

I use a pc for music otsav.. So I announce the first dance then pop out front with my camera. its a propper D-SLR mind not a compact and take a few shots of the B&G it takes seconds to do. Then back behind desk quick edit and there up on the screen usually as the first dance ends....

This has proved a great success for me and has gained me lots of referals..... I then upload there pics to my web site on there own page for them to download, and invite there friends and family to do the same. This again has increased traffic to my site and landed me some enquiries....

Also with each extra page I publish I give it an individual google friendly title so increasing my chances of being viewed when keywords are used...

Its all done tastefully and I have not had a problem as yet.. Infact people have started asking me to take group shots for the album etc....

just as an idea I also make up slides like the one below (this is just a mock up and names ect are not correct)

My roadie is the photographer ( Canon 5D ) he takes lots of pictures and we give the B&G a CD / DVD at the end of the evening with all the pictures on. During the evening they are projected on a large screen. Always goes down well

5D very nice camera just under two grand for camera and kit lens.. He must be a serious togger with that.

I just have the 400D worth about £500 with kit lens... Would like to eventually get the Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III but at nearly four and a half grand I think I will have to wait lol....

Would love to see some of the shots he gets for you... can you post some up.

Yea cheers Mr D......Im collecting quite a scrapbook now thanks tongue.gif
I shall send the CD to you soon, so you can have the photos of YOUR gig in YOUR scrapbook biggrin.gif

Oh and Im the same as you.......I dont really get time to take many photos when DJing, so its allways nice when Im invited to assist at a function by another DJ, I then get the chance to take photos which benefit both of us. thumbup.gif

The pic of the bride is a technique called selective colouring in photoshop its quite easy to do just a little time consuming... Wizard, he has some nice pictures there but he needs to watch the over processing it is a mistake we all make when we play in PS the old adage less is more is very true...

here is a quick example of selective colour

IPB Image

The technique is you import your colour pic into PS then make a copy of it. You then make the top copy B&W then erase where you want the colour to show through. On the above pic i did my dicky bow some borbals my eyes and a brick...
