Hi Guys,
I've been using a denon HD2500 with a BU4500 CD unit which is driven by the denon for the last couple of months.
I'm looking to get a backup as if the denon goes down, i wouldn't be able to use the CD units either.
Thinking of adding either the Cortex HDC 1000 or the D2 Director.
I've heard the cortex had issues with crashing, anybody know if these have been sorted out now?
Any thoughts on what I should go for?
Thanks

My Cortex 100 unit is Rock solid now.... and has been for six months. It would be ideal as a backup as the price is very good now. circa £199
Do you have a HD backup as well ?

how about HC4500 pluged into the CD draws......... and at a later date your laptop....
chances of the HD2500 and the CD draw all packing up at the same time are welll remote unless you have a power cut and then it dont matter what backup you have....

Let us know how you get on with the Cortex. I'm considering one myself in order to completely ditch CD.

I use an all in one Numark CD/Mixer for backup. That way, if either the HD2500 or X500 pack up then I only need one bit of kit to see me through. I take enough CDs to put on a decent enough show so no one can tell the majority of my collection is missing.

I use a cortex as backup for the denon. If I'm honest, I wished I'd just bought a second hd2500. I don't like anything about the cortex.

Well like for like the Denon is a better machine. But it is twice the price. Yes if you can afford it replicate your music playin system. But for most people a back up is just that something they hope they will never have to use...
Well Rev, I was talking about more creative uses lol but I guess thats another use for the laptop as is Solitare oh and now being able to access the net while working...

Well used the Cortex out for the first time last night and have to say it was great!
I was using it along with the denon so effectively had 4 decks to play with!
Also managed to beat mix with it so quite impressed, it is a great bit of kit and well worth £200.
It comes nowhere near the denon though but the Denon is £700!
I would def recommend the cortex to anyone looking for a cheap solution for playing MP3's through a Hard Drive!!

Another piece of kit that filled a gap when the computer went down was my creative 10 gig jukebox .
